While on a cruise we docked in Dubrovnik port. There are few market type stalls outside and in way back we decided to purchase a fridge magnet and when we went to lay with card the man said we needed to spend £10 to use card. Unfortunately we had no cash so had to leave it back! Few steps away another stall was there and a lovely lady accepted our card payment for a 3euro magnet.
Arthur Daly comes to mind!

Do NOT get a taxi directly from the port. Taxi rank just outside to the left, ushering tourists off the ferry into multiple taxis presumably from the same company. Got absolutely scammed, €55 for a 15 minute drive to our accommodation. Hotel owner said max should be €20, checked Uber - €12.
After such an amazing and positive experience it left a sour taste in our mouth for our last day.
Still an amazing holiday!! But definitely walk for a couple of minutes until you meet independent taxis.

We did enjoy walking around the port of Gruz harbour. We were staying quite close by at the Berkeley Hotel & Spa and walked down everyday to this area. There are a number of restaurants, bars etc for you to sit and relax. We also took our ferry trip to and from Lopud Island from this port on the Ferry Postira.
It is just basically a port with no outstanding features but its worth a walkaround we felt. Moored here at bay 8 i believe? is the superb old wooden galleon which many people comment upon. It is moored there every night and does trips out on some days around the islands and up the coast.

The day I visited seemed rather busy. Two cruise ships and dozens of other water craft coming and going. This is the main Cruise ship port and also the departure point for transiting to many of the islands.

Visited this place numerous times on our 10 day stay in Lapad (10 minute walk). Lot's of bars, cafes etc.

There is a fruit market daily and various stores scattered around. This is where I found a good place to change money - excellent rates.

My wife and I loved walking around the harbour and seeing the cruise ships and having a drink and watch the world go by.

Also got a very handy sea-taxi back to Lapad and saw lots of new sights from the boat that you cannot see from land.

Our Cruise ship docked at Port Gruz for our day visit to Dubrovnik. There is not a great deal to do here if you intend to explore the immediate area though there is a rather striking road bridge and indeed we had decided to take the service bus into Dubrovnik ‘Old Town’ and explore this area.
We left the ship and made for the tourist/souvenir shop still in the harbour confines specifically to buy our bus tickets but noted that the shop also stocked a good range of tourist souvenirs. We tend to collect porcelain thimbles and we were able to pick one up here.
The service bus leaves from just outside the port, note that the bus stop is on the roadside and not in the large coach station. If you pay on the bus, the driver will only accept the correct money in Croatian Kuna however you can buy tickets in advance from the tourist shop in the port who will give change. The busses advertise a relatively frequent return service and will take you to the Pile Gate in Dubrovnik Old Town and back again afterwards but be warned these services can get busy.
We had been advised that it was possible to walk from Port Gruz to the ‘Old Town’ however we would not recommend this as the distance and gradient profile in the heat of the day may cause discomfort if you are not used to this level of exertion.

Disembarking was fine. We found a taxi easily . There is not much to see or shopper do in this port. We took the taxi to Old Town to our hotel.
