Adriatic Kayak Tours offers guided sea kayaking and multi-sport half-day, full-day, and week-long tours on Croatia's Dalmatian coast and islands and in Montenegro. Founded in 2005, 2019 marks the company's 15th season in Dubrovnik. Activities include sea kayaking to multiple islands to swim, snorkel and cliff jump, cave swimming, hiking, cycling, and white-water rafting Europe's largest river gorge. Meals are a highlight- at small family owned restaurants or private homes on the islands. Multi-day tours are inclusive of accommodation and meals. AKT is owned and managed by an American. AKT guides are both experienced kayakers, knowledgeable resources on the history and culture of the region, and always fun to be with. We invite you to spend a day, 2 days, or a week with AKT experiencing the incredible beauty of the Adriatic Sea, the Dalmatian Islands, and the mountains and canyons of Montenegro.

AMAZING! - Best of the Balkans Week Long Tour

WOW WOW WOW! What an amazing trip! We went on the Best of the Balkans week long tour and couldn't recommend it more. This tour was a mix of sea kayaking and white water rafting.

I am outdoorsy. My wife is less so. I like to add some adventure to our vacations but finding things to do that offer both adventure and comfort can be tough. This tour was a perfect balance! Every night we stayed in a private room w/ private bathroom. The accommodations were excellent.

Almost all of the meals were included on the trip. Past experience had taught me to be wary of included meals as they are often disappointing; however, the meals we had during this tour were GREAT! We always left feeling full and very satisfied. The Croatian feta cheese was so good; order the Greek salads.

Ivan Piper was our guide. He is very professional and takes pride in his craft. He clearly has years of experience. He takes safety seriously while also keeping the atmosphere fun, light, and loose. This is a tough line to walk. He went out of his way to ensure that we were always in the best of spirits and having fun.

The kayaking gear we used was high quality. The seats had lumbar support & most of the kayaks had rudders.

We were very pleased with the pricing. It was a very good value given everything that was included.

This is my fifth tour group I have joined (first time with Oars/Adriatic Kayak Tours) and one of my favorites! Everything from the beautiful surroundings of Croatia and Montenegro to the well organized activities set by the guides. Ivan and Karlo took us to places only locals would know about, had us dine on delicious Croatian cuisine and made the trip overall so enjoyable! The accommodations were great, nothing fancy but we really only had time to sleep in them as we were gone all day kayaking around the beautiful islands within the Adriatic Sea, Canyoning (highly recommend!), hiking and enjoying all that Croatia/Montenegro has to offer. Even when weather had to change our plans a little we had a blast playing games and getting to know each other more. As a solo female traveler I felt very safe and included the entire trip. Not only great memories but great friendships were made with both the other travelers and the guides. I would highly recommend this trip if you are looking for an active, adventurous and fun vacation!

Group of 9 paddle around Lopud

We were on the 4 day paddle off Lopud. Our guide was excellent. Ivan. Really took care of us. The reason for not giving a 5 star was the kayaking equipment. It was obvious it needed TLC. One boat leaked, several had broken rudders and one had a seat that was broken and could not be adjusted. Several paddlers really wanted singles but had to do tandems because there wasn’t anything else. The weather did not cooperate but not anyone’s fault. The last day walk to the restaurant from the beach was too long to do in kayaking shoes so we all went home with blisters. Ivan included. The scenery was beautiful and we paddled a cave too.

Price changed without notification

I was on the week long Elafiti Island hopping tour. The tour guide was solid. The accommodations were very modest. From the time I booked the trip and offered to pay, until the time that payment was finally requested at the end of the trip, the prices all went up. When I asked the owner to honor the price of the tour at the time that I booked it, since she was the one who postponed payment, she declined. Her website does not say that prices are subject to change. I would not take another trip with this company for this reason.

Excellently managed tour

We have just returned from the 3 day 'short break tour'. We had a great time. Everything ran very smoothly with Ivan guiding us along the way. Food and accommodation was arranged for the whole trip and was of an excellent standard.

The coastline is stunning and the food great :)

The trip does require a certain level of fitness but it was great to kick back with a wine or beer after a long day and watch the sun go down.

Kolocep with lunch

We had a terrific day out Kayaking from Zotan to Kolocep Island with Ivan. Our children are 11,14 and 16 and Ivan made sure everyone felt safe, had a bit of adventure (blue cave and rock jumping) and a memorable day out.
He’s a very competent and knowledgeable guide who was great company as well.

The best kayak trip, seriously!

My friend and I went on the 7 day kayak excursion. Our trip was absolutely perfect! Our guides were informed, professional, and fun. The scenery was breath taking. The itinerary was the perfect combination of fun and challenging kayaking, hiking opportunities, swimming, sightseeing, and biking. We picked the full meal plan and were happy we did. Our guides brought us to unique places to eat off the beaten track and the meals were delicious. It felt like we had the opportunity to support the local economy not only the tourist spots.
The owner, Ivan, takes pride in having quality equipment and proper safety gear despite what seems like loose local guidelines. We appreciated our guides expertise and their love of kayaking and beautiful Croatia. Wish I was still there!

Wonderful and adaptable experience

I attended a longer tour as a single participant. The tour guide, Ivan, was amazing at adapting the tour to the abilities and wishes of the group. We spent 3 days on Lopud, and kayaked, hiked and biked for those days, and then travelled to Montenegro to raft the Tara River, where we also were able to squeeze in hiking and biking. We managed a sunset hike one day, and a sunset kayak another evening - truly magical. Ivan's local knowledge was irreplaceable, and his kindness and care for others was evident throughout, including when we stopped to help another vehicle with a flat tire. The restaurants and food he set up for us were all delicious and with a good variety. In short, I had an amazing time, and honestly will be back to try another tour soon!

Memorable day

We had the best time on this trip. To list a few of our highlights; we sea dolphins from our kayak, we cliff jumped 4&8metres, we swam in a cave, had a super tasty freshly caught lunch, learnt about the history and islands of Croatia. Massive thanks to our guide Ivan who made us feel safe at all times (despite our claustrophobia and fear of heights we managed the cave and the jumps!) he was so knowledgeable and friendly. Would highly recommend this tour, so reasonably priced and well organised. Loved loved loved.

Our wonderful Adriatic kayak and Montenegrin rafting adventure

This trip was a thrilling adventure for us, both in the activities we experienced and our ability, as seniors to complete them. We were able, at our pace, to sea kayak amongst three islands for a total of 20 miles over three days! The sunset kayak in Lopud bay was magical. Although the river in Montenegro was a bit low, it still provided plenty of adrenaline filled moments and lots of splashes.(And since Ivan filmed some the the rafting trip by drone, we have the video to prove it) A challenging hike along that river rewarded us with a view, up close of a breathtakingly beautiful waterfall. As foodies we were pleased with the opportunities to sample the delicious grilled fish and "under the dome" meats at well chosen restaurants which highlighted the regions' local specialties. What made this trip work so well was our guides, Ivan and Karlo. They had an interest in making this a challenging, but chose your own level of adventure trip, while always showing concern for the group's safety and happiness. We appreciated their willingness to share their life experiences and love of country with us. And the next morning, after the tour had ended, Ivan spent an hour with us making suggestions about where we might go and things to do and see as we continued the trip on our own.
