My teenage son and I booked the 3 Islands Blue Lagoon trip, and had a sunny day at sea. After a couple of days wandering around Split, it felt good to be on a boat, feel the wind through the hair, jump into the crystal clear water, and see things while sitting comfortably in a seat on the boat.
However, beware of the following:
“Lunch and drinks included” means that you get a crappy burger (meat, tuna or veggie) and some just as crappy fries for lunch. The free drinks are tap water and raspberry syrup from a water cooler, and after 1 p.m. you may also have some white wine from a 5 liter tap can. Beer, soda and coffee has to be purchased if you want some.
You get your drinks in those light plastic cups, and who knows how many of those end up in the water during each of these trips? If caring about plastics in the seas, they should at least choose paper cups instead.
The boat takes up to 130 people, and it’s not very big, so it’s quite packed. You are more or less stuck at your table of six, sitting on metal seats.
You should make sure to bring a sweater or jacket even on a hot day, as it can get chilly when you get out of the water after a swim, and the boat starts moving and you’re sitting in the shadow with the wind giving you a chill breeze.
The next time I’d consider investing a bit more money to get on a smaller boat with better food and less of the “mass tourism feeling”, but this trip was quite all right, and the crew did its best.
