- kevinadams0528 contributionsWonderful wine tourThe wine tour from Anton showing us his beautiful vineyard and winery was absolutely amazing. The knowledge and passion him and his family have for Putalj winery is wonderful. Highly recommend doing the wine tour with them. Tea was wonderful too, helping through the wine tour and explaining the different food that was served during the wine tour and more about the region. Loved every minute of it!Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 28, 2024
- Maximilien F6 contributionsAn experience worth your timeSuch an intimate experience. Great conversations with staff and our tour group. We enjoyed our generous wine tastings overlooking the sea and walking around the vineyard. The tour finished inside a cellar at the winemakers property. Clean accommodations, we left feeling like we made new friends.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 24, 2024
- Caitlin F2 contributions10/10 RecommendThis was such an amazing experience. We booked our winery tour for a Monday and happened to luck out that no one else had booked for that evening so we got our own little private winery tour. Nicolina and Tea were our tour guides and they were so sweet and knowledgeable. I loved the history that they provided us about the winery, it was so interesting. The food was delicious and so was the wine. We were able to explore the winery on our own and they took plenty of pictures of us, which was great. I enjoyed chatting with and hanging out with the tour guides, they were lovely people. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who comes here! We had such a great time.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 11, 2024
- Cecelia M12 contributionsMust Do Tour and Tasting! This is an absolute must visit if you are in Split! My husband and I were joined by one other couple for a fabulous tour and tasting eating around 3 and a half hours. We were told about the incredible history of the winery, toured the vineyard and one of their production rooms, and enjoyed time eating, drinking, and chatting in their tasting room. Their wines and olive oils are absolutely incredible served with local meats, cheeses, and olives. We could not stop telling people about how much we enjoyed our evening and highly recommend!Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 19, 2024
- Lucia M1 contributionBest winery and tour!!Me and my two friends have been on a trip all around Europe this summer and Croatia was by far our favorite. What really sealed the deal for us was the exquisite tastes and experience at Putalj winery. Our hosts were so amazing and kind from start to finish. The rich family history they shared with use paired with the beautiful views and scrumptious taste of foods and wine, left us all so impressed and happy to be there. Such a hidden gem in Split! A great experience to have with friends, family or even solo traveling. Thank you so much to all of the Putalj family for making our tour the most special part of our trip!Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten June 30, 2024
- Roxy W1 contributionBest winery tour in split!!This was the most beautiful winery I have ever visited! The views are absolutely breathtaking, I recommend going later in the day when you can see the sunset for the most memorable experience. The best part of this tour was our amazing hosts! They made us feel apart of their family and were so sweet and welcoming. This tour is truly one of a kind, you really don’t wanna miss it. I would fly back to Croatia just to go on this tour again!Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten June 30, 2024
- TravellingLiefde10 contributionsGood wine, food and peopleWe had a wonderful time tasting the wines made by a family that's been making wines in the same region for over 1300 years. The tour started up in the in hills, where putalj had its origins. The rose and cheese was almost as good as the view. Afterwards we were taxied down to the bay where the red wines, cheese and prosciutto filled us with joy.bThe tour was a gift to my girlfriend for her birthday and she enjoyed herself to the fullest as well as I. Definitely recommend it.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 19, 2024
- Remy M16 contributionsA truly perfect vineyard experienceMy husband and I loved this experience so much that we insisted another group do it when we met them on the trip. The story of the vineyard and the family was incredible - and the WINE!! Not to mention stunning views, a knowledgeable and engaging host, incredible olive oil and a delicious spread. We already want to go back.Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 5, 2024
- David P10 contributionsNice location not to soak up much wineThe vineyard is in a beautiful location, the winery is not. We had one rose up in the vineyard tasting room and field. The bottle we drank up there tasted a lot better than the bottle we drank (chilled) the next day. We tried two red wines in the winery, with contrasting styles. The food was a forgettable hard cheese wrapped in some very good prsut (prosciutto), a very good soft cheese with their olive oil, and some offensive slices of white baguette. Yes, you can eat as much of this until you are full, but why would you? And then comes the hangover from drinking without eating a meal that will soak up the wine. Apparently, the plavac goes well with steak - I can only imagine. The (family) staff were lovely and the oenology (the science bit) was interesting, if delivered in a bit of a dry and didactic "don't ask questions about what you're drinking now because I have a highly prepared and practised spiel on that when we get down to the winery in an hour's time" format. There didn't seem to be any sparkling wines or whites - only one rose and two reds.Visited October 2024Traveled with friendsWritten October 8, 2024
- Lauren LNew York307 contributionsA nice evening out! This is one of the better wine tours I have been on. From my first email to Srdan, everyone was helpful. I travel solo and it was no trouble to add me to an existing group. The tour itself was beautiful - they have a nice house on the vineyard where you learn a lot of history with a view, you see the cask room, and then you relax with food and wine. The three wines and olive oil we tasted were high quality and the food was delicious and abundant; they even let us keep the part of the bottle we did not finish. Our driver was friendly, safe and on time for pick up and drop off. I met a good group of people and had a lot of fun. Yes, the tour seems pricey but it is worth it - do not hesitate to book!Visited October 2024Traveled soloWritten October 22, 2024

We did the Putalj wine tour four years ago during a tour of Croatia and it was easily our favourite activity. When we booked another holiday to Split we knew this was the first thing we had to arrange, and were hoping that it was every bit as good as we remembered.
We were pleased to see that Tony who picked us up all those years ago is still transporting guests from the centre of Split to the winery, and was just as enthusiastic and welcoming as last time.
At the vineyard we were greeted by Anton, the owner of Putalj who was just as passionate and engaging as we remembered. It really is a beautiful setting to sit and enjoy some rosé and cheese whilst learning about the history of the winery and Split’s involvement in the Zinfandel grape variety. He also gives you plenty of time to walk around the vineyard and get photos before the sun sets.
After an hour or two we were driven down to Anton’s house where we got to sample some red wine straight from the barrel, before moving inside to enjoy plenty of meats, cheeses, bread and his beautiful homemade olive oil. You’re also able to choose a bottle of your favourite from the previously sampled wines to enjoy with your food.
Of course the main reason to come on a wine tour is to taste good wine which you get here (the white label red is my favourite), but you get so much more with this tour. Anton is incredibly generous and watching the sun set over his vineyard is priceless. Thank you Anton and Tony, we’ll be back for a third time next time we’re in Split.

The most incredible experience. If you are into wines, this winery tour was by far the best experience you could have. We loved it. It was intimate and Anton and Antonija have deep and vast knowledge when it comes to wines. You can feel their passion as they carefully explain everything to you. The price of the tour is very very reasonable considering you have free flowing wine all evening, amazing local produce is always provided to accompany your tastings and importantly you are getting one on one time with both Anton and Antonija for 4 hours. Plus transport is included. But let's not forget the wines. Anton produces high quality, robust and full of flavour selections, again reflecting his passion. I really can't recommend this tour enough. Thank you Anton for your generosity and opening your doors to us.

This experience was by far the best one we had while visiting Split. Everything from the hospitality of our hosts, to the quality of the wine and food, to the arranged transportation was second to none. We would recommend this wine tour to any visitors to Split who seek an engaging and authentic experience led by undoubtedly the most hospitable couple imaginable. Additionally, it’s fun to progress through the evening with the group because even though we started out as strangers, by the end of the night we took the party on to the old town for more fun. Highly recommend this experience. We somehow managed to stuff a bottle of Zinfandel and home grown olive oil into our carry-on bag that quickly became a checked-in luggage to accommodate the precious cargo. The next odyssey is to figure out how to ship their wines to the US so we can continue to enjoy them...but when there is a will, there is a way. Cheers!

We had an amazing evening. Having contacted the winery to see if they were taking reviews post covid lockdown in Croatia, we were picked up near our apt by Anton, the winery owner. He is a fascinating person to listen to with the history of the area, his family and the great revelation that Zinfandel is Croatian. We were the first two visitors for a good while and would thoroughly recommend the experience. Delicious wines and the cheese to accompany the homemade olive oil is sublime. We loved every minute of our evening.

Great visit and great history of the winery from the owner who has so much energy for his family story that it really is infectious.
The origin of Zinfandel is Croatia as we were told on the trip and the one produced here is excellent. We got plenty of wine to try from a Rose to start a Zinfandel and then a Plavic Mali red all produced by the winery.
At the winery itself we were treated to Croatian/Dalmatian prosciutto and cheese to accompany the red wines.
Great company great wine great food and even got a lift back to Trogir where we were staying.
It might seem expensive but they will keep opening bottles of wine as long as you want to keep drinking and anything you don’t drink you can’t take away with you so work that one to your advantage!!
Finally they also produce an extra virgin olive oil which we also bought and which was also delicious so treat yourself.

Was a great experience from start to finish. Would highly recommend if you are visiting Split or close by. We were picked up by the host and the tour started in the vineyard with Rose and locally farmed cheeses. After a few bottles we had a walk around the vineyard, the second part of the tour was going to where the wine was made and followed by more wine tasting. The host are very hospitable, friendly and of course knowledgeable regarding wine. All the wines are delicious, organic and well produced, I have woken up with NO hangover!

Our visit was a surprise from my girlfriend on my 31st birthday. We've already visited several vineyards around the globe and were curious about the wine culture of Croatia.
We were picked up downtown Split and the friendly driver took us to the vineyard. The view welcomes you in the most stunning way and already there we felt that the trip was worth it.
After we were welcomed by Antonia, who probably is the best person for this job. Friendly, funny, social & entertaining. She told us about the history and we were surprised to hear that the vineyard is a family business for over 1000 years and that Zinfandel was figured out to be from this very region. It was very clear that she lives to be in this place and she made it super easy for us to feel comfortable from the very start.
We tried the Rose (superb!) and two red wines (one Zin and one other Plavac Mali) which we both liked as well.
After the tasting, Anton (the owner & heart of Putalj) explained us how the work is done on the vineyard. Also here it was more than clear that he puts his heart in this and is a wine maker at it's best.
To finish the tour we sat down at the tasting room were we got a nice plate with cheese, olives & regional prosciutto. We decided to buy the local olive oil and two bottles of the Rose which we liked most.
We truly recommend this place to anyone who is stopping by this area. Fantastic experience of a magical place.

Fun, informative owners. Beautiful vineyard and an intimate tasting room at the winery itself in town. Anton and Antona made us feel like family while at their winery this June. We loved learning about the history of Croatian wine, their terroir and their philosophy behind wine making.
I don't know how large the groups normally are but when we were there we were a party of six along with another 8-10 people and it was perfect. Our tour started around 6pm as the sun was setting out on the vineyards, giving us an a good hour or two to learn about wine and explore the vineyards. The cheese and bread provided was excellent; we tasted their still rose while in the vineyard, then went back and tasted a plavac mali and Zinfandel back to back, followed by several hours of chatting with the owners and other guests.
Truly an incredible night , we will absolutely go back the next time we're near Split.

This was our favourite experience during our visit to Split. My first time ever going to a winery and I think the bar has been set very high. From the beautiful tasting veranda, the knowledgeable and extremely friendly sommelier, getting to walk through the vineyard and taste the grapes, sitting outside the winemakers house and tasting straight from the barrel, ending with a whole bottle each of whatever your favourite wine was and meat and cheese and conversation. It was so beautiful and fun and something I will remember forever. Definitely book this you will not regret it!

Our family of four had booked an evening with the Putalj Winery for the day we arrive in Split. Unfortunately for us, our connecting flight was late and although we arrived in Split, our luggage did not. Fortunately for us, we decided to go to the Putalj Winery anyway. Thank goodness we did! It is here where Antonia taught us the meaning of the Croatian word Pomelo! Thank you Antonia!!
We had a GREAT experience. Anton, the owner, is very passionate about wine making and the history of wine in this region of Croatia. Everyone there is easy to speak with and you were made to feel very, very welcome. Initially, you arrive in an area where you are surrounded by their vineyards and olive trees. Anton tells you about the history of the area and he lets you know that they also produce a very tasty olive oil. You taste wine, olive oil and have snacks while he goes over the history. He then invites you to walk around the vineyard. Afterward, you are driven to Anton's home where more wine and food is served (as well as tastings from the barrel).
Throughout the evening, glasses we consistently topped off, food replenished and conversations were interesting, inclusive and informative.
Our time here was wonderful and we have a new appreciation for Dalmatian wine.

We won't have a car in Split, is it best to organise a visit through a tour guide? If so, who is best to do this?
Also - how long does the visit last? I assume it's just evening tours?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
