The harbor area in Split is a good starting point for sight seeing around the old town and port area. On the eastern side are the ferry and coach terminals. I was amazed at this spectacular waterfront area. It is a beautiful landscape, a lively place with lots of restaurants where people eat, talk and have drinks, just at the entrance to the Old Town of Split.

The harbor is a fun place to visit whenever you want to be on the waterfront to soak in the festive atmosphere. The Riva started to look the way it does today two centuries ago, when the French, in time of Napoleon ruled these parts through Marshal Marmont. Today this promenade is the cities living room, the most popular and most important public place in Split. Great place to either stroll around, or sit and watch those who are. Full of life, bars, restaurants and with great views out to sea, we made it a daily ritual to enjoy before and after dinner.
