A Scenic Stroll by the Sea
Riva Harbor in Split is undeniably picturesque, offering a pleasant waterfront promenade that allows you to soak in the coastal beauty of the city. The harbor is bustling with activity, from the colorful boats bobbing in the clear waters to the charming cafes and shops that line the promenade. It's an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll, people-watching, and taking in the stunning views of the Adriatic Sea. However, I found that the crowds can be quite overwhelming during peak hours, making it challenging to fully enjoy the experience. Additionally, the prices at some of the waterfront establishments can be on the higher side. Nevertheless, Riva Harbor remains a must-visit in Split, offering a taste of the city's maritime charm and vibrant atmosphere.

    Great place to visit
We stayed in Split for 3 nights on our trip before we went to Brac & Hvar. We loved the Riva promenade with all the hustle and bustle and great bars and restaurants. It was lovely sitting there enjoying the food and drink with great views over the harbour and old town. The is so much to do and see we will need to return as we didnt have enough time to do everything. We walked to The Marjan hills , all of the beaches as the weather was fabulous , the Bell tower , the old town and harbour and then the Diocletian palace and all the fabulous squares. Looking forward to returning to finish off seeing the rest of Split

    Lovely place to Chillax
Beautiful place to people watch, enjoy the scenery and atmosphere and generally relax. The restaurants across the front are varied and can suit any budget. There are various stalls selling all kinds of boat trips on the quayside and I'd be clear on what your going to get from them. The party sunset trips looked great for the youngsters and I'm sure many of them are fantastic. I wouldn't get too excited about 'The Blue Lagoon' though. We did a '3 Islands boat and Blue Lagoon' trip on The Rizana and it was bang average at best.

Between the Adriatic and Diocletian’s Palace is the Riva, a seafront promenade lined with palm trees, bustling cafes, bars and restaurants. It’s one of the most popular areas in the city, running the entire length of Split’s Old Town. Stroll around whilst cooling down with a scoop (or three) of gelato, and it’s great for people watching! Order a drink in the outdoor seating or nab an oceanfront bench. You’ll likely spot locals and tourists alike sipping coffee or ordering lunch. Carefree socialising is a favourite pastime in Split and the Riva is the place to gather. It’s the unofficial social hub of the city.

Really chill place to go relax, go for a romantic sunset walk with your loved one. Full of activities and buzzing with tourists at all times of the day. Really enjoyed strolling all evening, taking photos and enjoying the harbor and sea views

Nice promenade stroll along the waterfront with palm trees and benches located every few metres. Plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from.

Wide avenue suitable for walking, scooters or baby prams. Lots of small stalls with trinkets and souvenirs.
More restaurants, cafes and bars than you can poke a stick at. Something for every budget here.

The downside was the smell in the corner where the flotsam from all the boats washes us - a rather pungent smell but it's not everywhere.

I personally would not like to visit this in peak summer - it was already busy enough at end of season (September).

Definitely worth a stroll if you're working off any jetlag. You can continue further north up and around towards the Marjan beach area (that's a LONG walk away though).

Plenty of restaurants, kiosks, stalls and shops but obviously with the location and perfect picture opportunities at hand you will pay a little more to shop, wine and dine in this location so be aware.

It is an enjoyable and relaxing location though and a must see when in Split. A lively area indeed.

We toured the Harbour seafront area of Split whilst on a one day stop in the city on a Tuesday in June. Arriving on a cruise ship, we had opted to explore the port on our own as we had previously visited here about three years ago.
The seafront is a very vibrant area lined with lots of restaurants and ice cream parlours and a lovely grassed way shaded by palm tree complete with benches where it is possible to rest out of the sun. Little stalls sell all manner of goods here including souvenirs of the city. We loved this area and after our second visit decided that Split is one of our favourite cities in the Adriatic.

Perfect place to spend your time on vacation. I really like how it's clean, with a lot of palmtrees and beautiful ships. There are a lot of bars and restaurants for any type of demand. You can eat in a fancy restaurant or drink you cocktails in front of the sea. In the evening this place become very lively and atmospheric.

It's really a Heart of Split's life day and night - all the time something happening. Especially beloved by the youth - I was maybe feeling a bit out of place among so many young people. But being young in heart, I fitted in - somehow. Have a coffee and ice cream in one of the numerous cafes!

As I was walking around the harbour, a very strong pungent smell of sewage came across. I saw near the promenade that the city was dumping the sewage into the harbour! It was utterly disgusting. I was talking to the nearest tourist box office who told us, that there is nothing that I can do about it, they do it already for a long time. So think twice before swimming in Split. I have also taken a video and attached a picture.
