It's know as fruit market to the locals as it was there in the past. It's nice square with Milesi Palace and Venetian tower in the corner. There is also statue of a Croatian poet from the 15th century created by Ivan Meštrović who's museum of art is also in Split. And we found there also a very good ice cream shop.

We strolled around the market for about half and hour, and the colors and smell all around were pretty neat. There is so many little booth vendors showcasing their local goods. A great spot to experience the local culture of Split.

Perhaps the affectionate name tag of ‘Fruit Square’ refers to a bygone era. Not a hint of fruit - or any other type of food - in the square in December, January or February, but no matter.

This is a gorgeous square and functions as a main conduit between the Riva and the inner part of the Old Town. Not at all difficult to find and, in fact, most tourists will very likely pass through it without having to have specific directions. The jewel in its crown is the Venetian Tower.

The square when we went in early March 2023 was pretty empty, no fruit in sight or markets out. It was pretty much empty and had no real soul as it was not the tourist season. It might be better in summer but wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Fruit's Square / Trg Brace Radic is a small piazza in the Old Town, just outside of where the western wall of Dioceltian's Palace would be. The photos are showing Green Market which is just outside of the eastern wall of Diocletian Palace. While the Green Market is the place where you'll get fresh fruit, vegetables, cheeses, oil, flowers etc.. at Fruit's Square you will have nice coffee, beer, find good shops ( but no fruits!). In the past, when Split was much smaller town there used to be green market.

It was out of season for the town and the market was still flowing!!! I have never seen so many fruits, veg, etc. I would say if you have the time you should go to the market. I love European Markets but this one by far is the best I have seen yet!!

We got several meals out of our visit to the market. At one spot we bought about four different kinds of cheese. At another spot we bought prosciutto, carved while we watched off the hind leg of the pig, the best prosciutto I've ever eaten. At another spot we bought spit-roasted pig, juicy, savory. At another spot we bought fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce. At another spot we bought fresh sandwich rolls. At another spot we purchased home-made olives. At another spot we purchased drinks. We took the food back to the apartment we were staying at and enjoyed several meals from our purchases, including wonderful sandwiches made from the fresh bread, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese and prosciutto. The roasted pig we ate by itself.

I see that all foreigners are wrong and mix the town square with a green market. In the past, there was really selling frui market, in that this is a small square named. Today, there is, in a central position, monument to the our poet from the 15th century Marko Marulc, it made by our world famous sculptor Ivan Mestrovic. Behind him is a palace Milesi from the Baroque era. On the south side is the tower built by the Venetians. On the west side there is a cafe and two taverns. In the last few years in the summer there are workshops of medieval crafts.

The title of the area is not Trg Brace Radic as this name is applied to a square that is found in the old town. Fruit's Square has been in it location for decades if not centuries and has been the place to go for locals to get fresh produce that they didn't grow themselves. The market stalls have all manner of locally produced fruit and vegetables which is often cheaper than what is found in a number of the supermarkets in and around Split. Locals prefer "dolmaci" which means home grown by locals and not mass produced. Additionally, if seeking prsut (Dalmatian style cured ham), this is the place to go.

Before we went to the beach, every single day we went to this market and bought fresh fruit: grapes, peaches, cherries etc. All organic. Absolutely delicious!
