We were actually told not to bother with this tour by locals, because they thought you could learn a lot just from reading historical signs. But it was so cheap and we learnt loads about building design and modern and local customs that we wouldn't have discovered otherwise. There are no museum entries included. but still we worth it.

We did the Split Walking Tour with Diokletian Palace and it was fantastic! Our guide Darko had a broad knowledge and was able to guide us through the old town with humour and lots of interesting facts and stories of Split. Although the city was very crowded, he got us to feel like we've stepped back in time and were part of the living history of the Diocletian's Palace.
Must do in Split if you want to get to know the city! We definitely recommend this tour, especially for the beginning of your stay in Split!

We did our free walking tour with Roko from guruwalks. He was brilliant, very funny and informative. If he's not on the stage then he should be! He's very expressive with a fabulous stage presence.
The walk was a slow pace and reasonably flat (although not entirely wheelchair accessible).
We also stopped to hear some a Capello singing which was nice.
I highly recommend free (tip based) walking tours, they are a great way to start a visit to anywhere new.

I am not pleased that a travel agent called “Split Walking Tour” did not refund to me the full payment I paid as a deposit to book our excursion. The notice to cancel was given well in advance to this company due to COVID-19 and thus the cancellation of our cruise to the Dalmatian coast.

It does not Ho or its own cancellation policy and had only returned 50% of the deposit I paid: the reason is it had paid its business partner half of my deposit and therefore I only received half back! What’s the logic in this? The business relationship between two travel agents is none of my business: as far as I am concerned -I should receive a full refund and the onus is on Split Walking Tour to ensure that its customer gets back what she is entitled. I subsequently asked again but it simply ignored me. How disappointed!

We booked for a 45 minute wine tasting. Whilst we learnt about the wine and enjoyed the snacks, it was disappointing that this was over in 20-25 minutes at the most, and that felt like a complete rip off for the €120 we paid for four people. The waiter didn’t even acknowledge us when we left and it was an unfortunate ending to what could have been a nice experience.

Ivan was our guide for a wonderful tour of Split’s local markets and cuisine history + Diocletian’s Palace. We discussed lots of culture and tasted some foods from both open market vendors as well as shop vendors. Hearing some family stories about Croatian culture and war history were really informative. The palace history was impressive for sure but the highlight was Ivan’ s ability to impart cultural traditions as told through his family.

Our guide Rocco was knowledgeable and passionate, and the subject matter rich with history. The Roman palace dominates Split old town and there’s loads to see and learn about. It’s also quite humbling to learn Croatian history from someone whose family lived it. Overall, a great experience and there’s no pressure to make a payment, but Rocco fully deserved a decent tip for a job well done!!

I thought that a walking tour will be better to help me understand the Diocletian Palace and booked a tour with this company since it has great reviews and was highly rated on Tripadvisor. Many a times, a tour guide can make or break the tour, and this was a tour that I will not recommend.

The tour guide failed to engage the group and was also absentminded. There were a lot of stories and places that she forgot to explain until someone asked a question. The meeting point was at the Golden Gate and we were standing under the Statue of Gregory (he's 8 meters tall!) and she didn't mention a word about him until someone asked. This was also seen in many cases when we were standing in front of beautiful buildings or magnificent statues. Sometimes she end off sentences with 'You-know' and 'whatever' when she couldn't find the words for them (if I have known, I wouldn't have join the tour in the first place!)

Yes, I indeed learn more details about the Diocletian Palace but the tour frustrates me many times. The tour guide's accent and pronunciation made many explanations difficult to hear or understand. The positive is that you really get to see a lot of places that you may have otherwise miss without a guide.

I am writing this review not to lambast the agency or the tour guide, but hopefully to provide constructive suggestions for improvements.

Will I recommend this tour to others? Probably yes if you are with another tour guide. I think it will be better if you shown up without booking the tour, see if the tour guide is one of the more recognized or frequently mentioned ones on tripadvisor, then proceed to join the tour. If not, don't waste your time.

Our Split walking tour is one of our most popular tours from the beginning of our business, and we have never had any complaints about this tour. All our guides are highly educated and experienced tourist guides and they put a lot of efforts to please the guests from different countries and cultures. As we work with small groups, there is always enough time to ask questions if something is not understood. We are very sorry to hear that we didn't meet your expectations! It was our pleasure that you have been our guest on this tour and we hope that you have enjoyed the rest of your holiday in Croatia. Kind regards, Luka

So glad we took this tour of Diocletian's Palace. Lucy is very knowledgable, speaks great English and was very helpful with our toddler who lost it 60 minutes into the 90 min tour. Go see her for this tour!!
