Marko Marulič Sculpture is located in the Center of Brace Radic Square in the old town of Split, a city in Dalmatia Region. It is a nice statue in the middle of this tiny square. Really, the full composition of the sculpture, the square and the buildings, which surrounds it is very beautiful. A place to walk, relax and sit in any bar/restaurant to drink or eat something. One of the very nice points in the Old Split.

You can’t miss this if you are strolling through Split. Located On of the larger open air plazas. Several restaurants and shops line the edges

This statue is located on Fruit's Square. I did not know of its existence before we visited but luckily our walking tour passed through the area and our guide mentioned its significance. I note from later research that it is mentioned in a few reviews of the Square but if you do not visit the Square you miss the statue.
The statue was sculpted by Ivan Meštrović and inaugurated in 1925. Marulić is regarded as the father of Croatian literature, he was a lawyer and judge, a leading Renaissance humanist, and one of the first authors in the Croatian language.

One of the easier statues to locate in Split’s Old Town, it commemorates the Croat poet and humanist. Used as a meeting point mostly from what we could see - as many tour guides and their groups hover in the area - there is an information plaque to one side of the statue for further reading.

Your bound to see / pass it. Worth a quick stop. Important in history. Pay attention to the nose and fingers! Not going to tell you why!

He is the most famous of the Croatian poets of the 1500s & is renowned in his scholarly studies of humanism ( the Humanities ) to have coined the term PSYCHOLOGY.
He is regarded as the Croatian "national poet" - therefore one who is held by tradition or national acclaim - and has been called the "crown of the Croatian medieval age" and the "father of the Croatian Renaissance".
The Order of the Croatian Morning Star (Danica Hrvatska) is a medal embossed with the face of Marko Marulic awarded in the sphere of Culture.
For instance, this same order for Science recognises Nikola Tesla, which gives us a bearing on Marko Marulic extremely high regard within Croatia.
The Statue is really a 'walk-by' attraction, but knowing a bit of background helps you more fully appreciate it.

Came across this by accident and really nothing much to say about. As far as i have gathered he was famous poet but nothing more. If you are in the area go and view it but don't make a special trip.

Not far from the famous waterfront in Split. Marko Marulic is the father of Croatian literature, writing most of his works in Latin
