Split Old Town with amazing Dioklecian Palace, Church of St. Duje, Riva is unbeatable spot in the whole Dalmatia. Better then Dubrovnik. More real one. If you will manage to visit the Pallace arround 7.00 am you will avoid the crowds and can get some fantastic pictures without hords od visitors.

After wandering around Diocletian’s Palace for a morning and not understanding what we were looking at, my sister and I decided to take a tour and booked an afternoon with Valerie. It was immediately clear that she was passionate and excited about the history of Split as she launched in to tales of emperors, battles, and the inhabitants of the castle throughout the ages. A truly incredible story and a wonderful narrator in Valerie.

A fascinating glimpse into late Roman history. Go early or late to avoid the crowds. The palace is free to enter. Pay the extra and go into the deeper recesses.

One of the perks of coming to Split in the off season has been the small crowds and tour groups. We were lucky enough to have Valeri for a private tour and she didn't disappoint! She loves this city and is the perfect host to walk you around the palace walls.

There is no doubt that the city of Split and Diocletion's Palace is phenomenal but when the tour and the history is delivered with so much passion and details as it was by our tour guide Valerie, it really comes to life. My husband was so memorized by the entire experience and he is hard to impress. Valerie, once again thanks for the fantastic job you do and keep NZ on your bucket list :-)
