Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater - the first theater in Odessa at the time of construction, value and popularity. In the theater conducted Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninov, sang Fyodor Chaliapin, Salome Krushelnytska, Leonid Sobinov, danced Anna Pavlova and Isadora Duncan. The interior of the theater is festive and elegant. The theatre is designed in the style of the late French "rococo". It... More

I wanted to see a classical ballet and this seemed the right place. They have An English website but if you click further to book it's all in cyrillic so i couldn't book in advance. So I went the day of the performance, the box office opens 1 hour before. It was super crowded and when it was my turn... More

The theatre is magnificent with stunning acoustics. i saw a organ recital and had a top class ticket for £8. the booking system is tricky but someone will help you in the queue if you are having difficulties... While visiting friends in Ukraine, I was treated to an evening at the opera. We watched The Barber of Seville. Interestingly enough it was performed in Italian and Ukrainian subtitles were provided. The theater is a sight to behold starting with the first step inside. The stairway is an ideal spot for a photo op! What a treat to experience... More

Living in Odessa I've been visiting the Odessa Odessa Opera and Ballet Theatre quite constantly. It's an amazing building which impresses you each time you enter its porch. Full of brilliant golden decorations, magnificent staircases and huge curved mirrors, tiny sculptures and wonderful paintings. You can buy tickets both for the excursion around and inside the theatre and also for... More

After being closed for several years amid botched reconstruction efforts, the theatre reopened to great fanfare in 2007. You can take a Russian-language tour of the theatre,... More
