I loved it. World-known painters’ and sculptors’ works, squeaky floor and the place itself is a good combination that create great atmosphere. Definitely worth visiting

Wait for a rainy day to take a trip to this Museum. If it's hot outside, it's even hotter inside. It's inexplicable. The art itself is poorly maintained, due to lack of funds. A big collection of art to be seen, though I was very disappointed after reading about one of the artists and finding only two tiny paintings hidden in a cabinet by the artist. It's cheap to enter. I'm not over the moon about it as you can tell, too soured by the promise of art I didn't find. Still, it's a good museum despite its drawbacks. The palace itself is lovely and worth getting inside to see.

An absolute highlight for me. I spent 2 hours slowly wandering through the impressive ‘General’ collection. There is a wide array of Rococo, Romantic, Realism, Neoclassical and early Impressionist style works offering a window in to Russian / Ukrainian life in the 18/19th centuries. Importantly, the painting all have both titles and painters in English as well as Ukrainian. The entrance price was less than USD$3.

Quite a walk to get there but well worth it. Probably had the best selection of paintings that I’d seen on my Ukrainian visit.
Another beautiful building - another place that I want to return to.

The Odessa Museum of Art is housed in an old palace that belonged to a Polish nobleman. The nineteenth century is well represented with valuable works; there are great Russian painters like Levitan, Repin, Aivazovsky, Makovski, etc. As in all museums of the world, modern painting is of little interest, at least to me.
I recommend to those with intellectual concerns who arrived in Odessa not to miss this museum.
Note: in 2019 the street was in great repair, a tram line was introduced.

The museum opened in 1899 in The Potocki Palace. There are works of art from the 16th to 19th century by European artists. There are also sculptures and decorative arts on display. The building itself is very interesting. Best toured with a guide.

The Art Museum can be reached by walking along the Primorsky Boulevard and continuing along the path beyond it until it is blocked off, then take one block inland and one to the right. The road outside it was having major works done so if you go by trolleybus or taxi you will not be able to get right to the door.
The museum costs UAH 70 to enter. I was not familiar with the Russian and Ukranian artists featured, though many of the styles are similar to those seen in Western Europe. I was particularly impressed with the collection of Ivan Ayvakowsky's work here - somewhat reminiscent of Caspar David Friedrich.

Odessa is not an art mecca, but this museum has some nice artwork housed in an old mansion that was given to the city.

This is a Gallery that you walk into and immediately know that it needs, and deserves. proper funding.
From paintings to sculpture to ceramics to furniture to floors...everything is just so exceptional. Unfortunately it is displayed in a very un-exceptional way.
Paintings are hung on thick string against walls that have paint peeling from them. There is no proper air-conditioning...just open windows with no humidity control.
All this aside...the various works are stunning.
From ancient gold leaf idols to oil portraits that are breathtakingly good to revolutionary art and modern art...it deserves money...and deserves a visit.
I fell in love with this Gallery and just wished that I was rich enough to protect it from decline.
I recommend a visit.
