I really enjoyed the lesson and the food made was delicious. Sonia (chef) and Diego (English translator) were both lovely. I did the “basic” class and there were 2 others in my group. The setup worked well - it was more of a demonstration with lots of group participation in the prep and cooking (as opposed to each individual making every recipe). I enjoyed that the class was in Spanish with English translation to improve my Spanish. Make sure where you are staying has a fridge as you will have lots of delicious food left over!

We booked a cooking lesson with this School during our visit to Antigua. We were a group of 5 and we had a brilliant experience. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed learning about the food and how to cook the delicious recipes. We would highly recommend for anyone who would like to learn more about Guatemalan food. There is a lovely courtyard to sit and enjoy the dishes you have cooked at the end. Everyone was very helpful and we enjoyed our time in a relaxed atmosphere.

Thank you to the organizers for a very inspiring master class! Thanks to the staff and the chef, a very friendly and family atmosphere was created throughout the group. Time passed unnoticed, making 5 different very tasty national dishes. At my request, my portion was vegan, so I can 100% enjoy the master class and its results. The chef found a job for each participant in cooking, we all felt involved in what was happening. with the help of a great translator we got answers to all the questions. We also shared our various national cooking peculiarities among the group members. I will definitely use these tips and available products and their combinations in my home kitchen in Latvia. An unforgettable, joyful and very tasty experience! Thanks La Tortilla Cooking School !!!

La Tortilla is the perfect place to gain an experience of Guatemalan cuisine. The space is located in the heart of Antigua and it is clean, beautiful and spacious, with multiple well equipped class kitchens, big table and outdoor patio to enjoy the prepared meals. Stuff and owner are friendly and patient, taking care that everyone has the best experience. The best value and quality. I highly recommend taking cooking classes with La Tortilla.

We were two families traveling to Antigua with tweens/teens. We participated in the 'short course' which allowed us to make the local dish Chicken Pepian and tortillas and enjoy wine /fruit drink. It was just the right amount of chopping, cooking, and learning, and eating for everyone in our group. Our tortillas were lopsided but delicious and the flavors in the Pepian sauce were wonderful. The experience allowed for vegetarian options as well. The guide Julio and chef were patient and knowledgeable allowing us to "work" and eat at our own pace while showing us 'how to' cook the Guatemalan way.

We had a great time with Odi, Katherine, and Diego! We took the basic class and made 4 dishes plus tortillas. The class was informative and it was great getting to know the staff and the other guests. We loved being able to home our leftovers. Definitely recommend, great value for money, and we learned a lot about Guatemalan food :)

I signed up with a friend on a whim because we were bored in Antigua and had an excellent time! The staff was very friendly and fun to be around - we laughed and learned a lot! We had a translator but she gave us ample opportunity to practice our Spanish with the chef as well which was a plus. The food was delicious and so satisfying knowing we made it ourselves! After several weeks in a host home in Guatemala and being familiar with the food culture here, it was so rewarding to cook these dishes ourselves. It was so fun and unique! I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to cook/searching for an experience in Antigua.

We took the market tour and the full class and were very satisfied with both experiences. The market tour took you around parts of Antigua where the markets of old were located and then to the present day market where you learn about the local ingredients used in many of the traditional dishes. Our tour guide answered all my crazy questions about how to use, prepare and eat many ingredients that seemed alien. Then we headed back to the school where we prepared six dishes. It was hands on and informative but not overwhelming. If you can cut veggies, you can take this class. The recipes were easy and flavorful! It was a great way to become familiar with a Guatemalan cooking and have a fabulous home cooked lunch.

Done many cooking classes all over the world and really enjoyed this cooking class! The dishes were authentic, but not too hard. I hate it when cooking classes get so intense that you know you will never be able to make them again or find the ingredients. The teacher told us which ingredients we can use instead in the US and used ingredients that weren’t hard to find. My Spanish es poco, so they had a translator there without me even asking. I appreciated that. The translator and the teacher spent lots of time teaching me Spanish as well because I am trying to learn. Very enjoyable, great experience.
