We signed up for this 8 hour tour as a shore excursion from our Holland America ship MS Rotterdam. This tour was outstanding not only because of the wonderful sights of Antigua, but because our guide Manual and our bus driver both did a great job. We saw the Saint Joseph Cathedral, a convent, La Merced Church, a beautiful Park, the Jade Factory and had a wonderful lunch at Arrin Cuan restaurant. I do wish we had more time in La Merced and less time at the convent, but other than that the tour was as perfect as can be! Highly recommend!

Great small group walking tour! Our tour guide Erwin from MB Guatemaya Travel Office is very knowledgeable and fluent in English. We booked it in less than 24 hours through Viator. He took us through the most important historical highlights of Antigua, and answered a lot of our questions. We highly recommend this tour for first time in Antigua.

Excellent tour. I would definitely recommend IT. The tour can provide you with all the information you need. She tells with a lot of enthusiasm and fun about the Guatemalan way of life.

What a lovely place! Beautiful friendly people, good food, solid economic standing and first Parliament in Central America. I’m here until November visiting this lovely city and working. I find it interesting, safe, busy but not crazy dizzying chaos like Kathmandu, Nepal. This is definitely the old world. I don’t think there’s a country south of the US border where you can flush toilet paper! But if you can move past a few uncomfortable facts you will love it here. Guatemala City is large, heavily trafficked and some Zones are dangerous. After I landed I arranged for a car to drive me to Antigua. My friends here know the driver well and he speaks excellent Spanish so if you need a shuttle to anywhere contact me for his info. Don’t bring high heels or flip flops! Wear solid shoes, the cobblestone is hard to navigate so take your time, seeing the sites are worth a bit of ankle twisting. For lodging I recommend getting a place on the outskirts of Antigua. By Friday afternoons the place fills up! Some rich folks fly in by chopper. Mon-Thur it’s like a lovely ghost town, all options are yours. But the weekend means discos open and music booms so staying near the city square can be avoided. Everything is a short walk around town. Maps point all the wonderful sites and there’s Jade galore. I found the short stair hike up to Cerro de La Cruz fantastic, what great views! Please note this city is like many others in the world. Keep your whits about you, robberies happen mostly after dark. No one is hurt or killed but leave valuables in your room and watch for pick pockets. Ubers, Taxis and Tuk Tuks are $2.00 USD almost everywhere! Super cheap so if you leave a bar at night please get a car to take you home. Thanks for reading! Sharon S.

Our tour guide Diego was awesome! Diego spoke great English and was very knowledgeable about the city and its history. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 hour walking tour with him and there was even more to see. A longer tour might have been a better choice but we booked several things and that was all we had time for.
