Good trekking company for Acatenango trek

Reliable and fun guides. Good trek on Acatenango volcano. The only downside is that I felt too rushed to get downhill by a certain deadline. Our group was small (5 of us). This... read more

Reliable and fun guides. Good trek on Acatenango volcano. The only downside is that I felt too rushed to get downhill by a certain deadline. Our group was small (5 of us). This is a streneous trek, so need a bit more time to get down. All in all, good trekking company.

First off I want to mention, unfortunately I did not end up getting to go on a tour with Ox adventures. This review is for the customer service via email exchange with the company. I had set days I wanted to hike the volcano while in Guatemala. There was some miscommunication on my part for what days I wanted to... More

My sister and I booked a ziplining, kayaking/jungle trek, and the Double Whammy. Ziplining was great. They had booked us with a different company, and our guide Fredy was fantastic. Thrilling, but safe. Our kayaking guide never showed up, but they called us right away and told us that since we were already on the shuttle to Lake Atitlan, they... More

Labeled "easy" I believe it was a good workout wth everyone's Fitbit saying 20,000 steps all uphill. The zip line was everyone's favorite, very thrilling. The eco hotel had a beautiful view, kinda funky. The bike downhill was hectic when we got to the big cobblestones. All in all, fun for athletic types, not for the unfit. Guides were good.

We had a great trip with OX. Fuego was erupting the whole time we were there and we were incredibly lucky with the weather and our group. Everyone had the energy to summit at sunset and it was spectacular. OX offers experienced and knowledgeable guides who are friendly and funny. Their equipment is durable and comfortable enough for one night.... More

I went on an overnight trip to Acatenango hike/ camping. I was in the group with another person reviewing the company and who had somewhat harsh and not totally accurate account of what happened. However I agree that the RESPONSABILITY of canceling the trip lies with the owner of the travel agency/ manager upon verifying the weather forecast. This being... More

Great and very experienced tour guides, good group. The hike is strenuous (several people in the group required porters for their packs, and a few got hit by altitude sickness), with fairly difficult trails (loose ground, very steep). Well worth it though -- the sight from top (especially seeing Fuego erupt at night!) is incredible!

I was very disappointed with this group, who I went with on an overnight hike to Acatenango. They said that they charge more because they are the best. I must have believed them as I abrogated the checking of the weather forecast to them. The night that we camped there were 100km/hr winds and -5 degree temperatures, and 6 people... More

Totally recommend this agency and its guides, very professional, great experience overnighting in Acatenango. Very hard to climb up, I consider my self physically active but this type of excersice at that altitude makes it one of the hardest things I've ever done. I had to pay a porter, even tough it is totally worth it. December is kind of... More
