A nice cathedral at any time or any weather, however, it's really stunning at night and makes the perfect backdrop to a romantic evening walk. While Antigua is generally pretty safe, it can get a little sketchy at night, so I recommend going shortly after sunset while there are still plenty of people out.

This a a beautiful cathedral that shouldn't be missed. It's important for visitors to know that services are held daily, so touring isn't possible during those hours. There are docents at the entrance who can answer questions if you speak Spanish.

This is a lovely site, lit up at night, as you walk the cobblestone streets of Antigua. You can go inside, too, of course, during the day. It's a beautiful experience, with a glimpse into the religious experiences of the locals.

So very beautiful at night! Much prettier on the outside than the inside. Great place to take pictures of the Volcan de Agua

A must see... When in Paris, you must vist the Eiffel Tower... When in Antigua, you must visit ......... ??? Yes, of course: La Catedral... A great, recently renovated, example of the opulent Spanish Baroque style of architecture

The Cathedral of Santiago is one of the most well known and widely visited attractions in Antigua. It's location, situated on the eastern flank of the Central Square, makes it easy to find. The facade is gorgeous and makes for some spectacular photos at all times during the day, with the golden hours and at night when it is illuminated... More

Tour the original ruins dating back to 1545. The original building was destroyed by 2 earthquakes and what remains makes for gorgeous photos. Hire a guide for about $6 and they'll tell you all you need to know.

I had always wondered why the Cathedral in Antigua is so "small" compared to "neighborhood" churches, La Merced and San Francisco; Now I know. Destroyed by earthquakes which led to the capital moving to Guatemala City, it was no longer the Cathedral of a capital city, but of a small town. The remains of the original cathedral in behind the... More

The Cathedral de Santiago is a lot like churches I have visited in Europe. It has religous statues and paintings through out the cathedral. It is located next to the down's plaza which makes it easy to find.
