My wife and I often go here to sit and people watch. One of the times we went was during halloween night and there were all sorts of people in costume. It is busier during the weekend but there are usually a good number of people during the day too. It is a popular tourist spot. During one of our... More

The plaza central is the heart of Antigua, and no visit to Guatemala is complete without seeing the plaza and the beautiful fountain in the center. Please don't even consider going to Antigua and not seeing the plaza central. The cathedral is on one side of the square, shops on other sides, and behind the cathedral are the catacombs, which... In the center of town, it's a pretty place to hang out and people watch. On the weekends there was a market selling textiles and pictures for all the tourists. It's also where we met up with our walking tour of the area.

We had an afternoon to kill when we were staying in Antigua before our official tour started with a tour group. We walked around and had a look at some of the buildings and churches. The plaza was nice, centrally located, busy and full of locals selling things and just hanging out. We walked around the outside an then up... More

It is worth swinging by to see. There was dancing and music when I was there. I loved Antigua. Spend at least 3 days in this city alone.

The Parco Centrale is a lovely place to take in the city and it's inhabitants. I didn't find the vendors to be a problem, they quickly understand if you don't look at their trinkets.

Ah the park. It is the center of the city. It is the meeting place for all. Every single day of our trip, I spent at least an hour or two sitting and knitting while watching, talking and learning. The park is beautiful and well taken care of. It is more crowded in the afternoon than earlier parts of the... More

Great spot to sit and enjoy the city. Buy some coffe from one of the local cafes and enjoy it in the park!

Great sites to see, just be aware there are several vendors selling things every 10ft you walk so don't expect a peaceful visit alone with the sites.
