My wife and I visited El Pilar on two occasions and really enjoyed the peaceful ambience. It is a lovely place to wander around enjoying the wildlife particularly birds. The hummingbird feeders at the entrance are a must!

Spent 13 hours with a local guide, from dusk to nightfall (last bird: a Whiskered Owlet!). We walked up and down the mountain-side, along well-maintained, incredibly built paths. Saw 8 species of hummingbird, most at local feeders and observed through a scope. Fabulous views and...More

We took a taxi there. Driver stopped at the gate and said that's as far as we would go. From there, we could only walk to the pools. The park itself was a long way up a gravel road. Privately-owned vehicles seemed ok to continue...More

Hi, it's a shame we couldn't give you more information about hiking in Finca El Pilar. Once there, you can get into the pools, there are from pure mountain water, and we don't use any chemicals for their cleaning. They are as natural as they...More

It is a rainforest believe it or not. Hummingbirds all over. Walking the paths is not difficult and watching the birds is well worth it. Only problem is the direction are lacking. It is near Santa Ana so everyone there can help you.

Although it was Mother’s Day there weren’t many people. The walk was pretty and we saw plenty of humming birds at the feeders. The swimming pools looked inviting.

I recently visited Finca el Pilar with my husband and two teenagers, 13 and 17. We will never forget this incredible place, with its stunning views both of volcanoes and the thick, verdant cloud forest. Just a 45-minute walk or a 10-minute tuk tuk ride...More

Well maintained trail in beautiful forest a little off the tourist track. Gates close at 5 & we got there at 4 so didn’t make it to the top. There were families and small children in the pools but no other hikers. So nice to...More

Finca El Pilar is not safe. I encountered an armed man who demanded money and/or cell phone in farm. He threatened to kill me. Somehow I managed to talk him down. I would never return to this farm.
