I wandered in to this diamond in the rough after a hard day mountain biking and honestly it was a highlight of my trip. The people were so friendly, the drinks cold and the atmosphere unbelievable. I am mediately felt at home and would 10 out of 10 recommend to anyone in town who likes a bit of atmosphere.

A very unique place, frequented by western immigrants and locals by day and just about everyone by night. What brought me back again and again is the open minded atmosphere, wacky interior and the infamous Ilegal Mezcal. Live music in the evenings was outstanding and I’m now a fan of Maf e Tula (do yourself a favour and look her up on YouTube). Can’t wait to go back.

Nice cool place / bar to check out. Once was the place to get "illegal mezcal” in the old days, still kept its character. Make sure you chat with the owner or staff to learn the great history/story of it.

It is a shame that the staff here feels the need to be rude and pretentious , because the bar has a nice atmosphere otherwise. We were only allowed into the "mezcal" room when we ordered two ridiculously overpriced shots of it. The bartender there was not friendly at all to us. We then went to sit at one of the empty tables in the room and the bartender proceeded to kick us out because we didn't order another shot. I've never witnessed such bad service in my lifetime (I have been a waitress/bartender in Canada for years). We decided to leave the restaurant and it basically ruined our night and we couldn't believe how ridiculous this place is

The atmosphere of the place is interesting and fun if there are a lot of people. Unfortunately, the staff is unusually arrogant for being simple bartenders. They do not care to provide good service, they are more interested in showing how "cool" they are by rolling their eyes at you or just being rude. I have always preferred bars where the bartenders are interesting and friendly, but I tried out Cafe No Se for the first time with some friends and the whole place is laughable. Tattooed bartenders who think they are actually too important to serve you (why is this a thing?) and a very rude, arrogant owner who was clearly hyped up on drugs. I don't recommend the place to anyone, but if you're in the mood for arrogant servers, bad pizza, and a druggie owner who doesn't give any client the time of day, I suggest you check it out for a laugh.

Went here with a couple of friends to have dinner and we were surprised that there were only a few items on the menu, of which one was not even available anymore. The menu was clearly catered to American people (all 3 American friends told me so) as choices were pizza, cheese sandwich, and some homemade meat burger/sandwich thingie which they recognised from home. All items were fairly priced above average local food, but that was to be expected. However, also beers were about 50% more expensive than what I was used to from Flores (20-30Q excluding 10% tax). I ordered a cheese/bacon/cheese sandwich something at 35Q (excluding 10% tax) and was surprised to find how little it was (see picture).
Apart from the food and the prices, the atmosphere is great though as everything is very nicely candle lit. Staff is very attentive too and the live music every night attracts quite the crowd.
So all in all I felt it might be a slightly overrated place but surely nice for grabbing a drink.

I really don't. I'm not sure why it has such an amazing reputation- stuffy, dark and unremarkable.

Maybe that's their thing. Maybe that's where Kerouac would hang out. It's not so much my thing - I'd rather sit in a bar with windows open to the streets and sip Q.10 Mojitos. Call me a square.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be harsh, but there was just this sadness in there. I heard some guy say it felt like pergatory to him, a bunch of souls all waiting around after they died to see where they were going to go from there and I have to agree. Service was good, mezcal was awesome, but I felt dirty and sad in there.

If you like dark smoky places with surly bartenders, drunks who speak Latin, soulful musicians, oddballs and freaks, "artists and actors and writers and such" poets and cynics, international do-gooders and people who read books, sloshy raconteurs, excellent tequila and custom infused mezcal (watch out for the pepper hooch)...if you want to be in a place where laughter and love are as free-flowing as the booze...a place where people will see the good in you and forgive you for your sins, No Se is for you! And if you find yourself in this scrappy brilliant place, hug the bartenders for me, tip them well, and please, do not behave yourself! It is against the unstated rules!

WARNING: If you are uptight, sober in spirit (not necessarily in deed), anal retentive, a scaredy-cat, ungenerous with your love, secretive, hate talking about the carnal, don't like wildly inappropriate banter, and can't see the good in the scrappiest of characters, No Se is NOT for you. Go to Applebee’s and order an iceberg lettuce salad and a diet coke. You'll be happier there.

Quirky place full of gringos. Back bars mixed drinks are watered down. The Russian/ Polish chick that mans the mezcal bar, extremely rude. Literally had just finished our drinks and was approached and was told to leave. Within 3 minutes she got off her seat, approached our table again and told us "she meant it, get out!" Not so charming for a charming place!
