Took my children to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with great anticipation as it was a childhood Disney favorite of theirs. Act 1 was great and in hindsight, I wish we would have left after this act. Act 2 beginning at Chu Chi Face went downhill, as far as being censored for my children. I was appalled that they changed a perfectly good Disney film in to a smutty scene by having 7 women prancing and dancing around in red and black lingerie and turning their backsides to the audience, at one point and shaking their buttocks at us. Very crude and not at all appropriate for a Disney film adaptation. While the crowd of adults roared and seemed to love it...many of us parents who brought our children did not. It was offensive. Had I known they would change the play into an adult-type crude entertainment piece, we would not have bothered wasting our time nor our money on such "entertainment." If Disney isn't a safe adaptation at the Croswell, will I ever be able to make it a family outing at the Croswell again? I do have my doubts, for sure! Such a shame...

Such a wonderful place to see local & national talent. Been frequenting this historic site for years and just love it. Renovations will be completed soon to make the experience even better! Up close & personal in a magical venue! Musicals are a must. Watch for great Christmas specials to take the entire family to.

We have been going to the Croswell for many years and have yet to see a production that we did not think was first-rate. There isn't a bad seat in the house and the sound quality is great. It all makes our 70 mile round trip worth the drive. Keep up the good work Croswell!

I have seen five or six plays in this wonderful theater and have always been impressed by its character. It is a terrific place to watch a production. I have seen Escanaba in the Moonlight, Death of a Salesman, Oklahoma and a couple more. The productions I have attended have each been enjoyable and the venue has added to the experience. If you have a chance to see a production of any kind in this theater, I recommend giving it a try.

This fine old theater has live plays and more. We used to attend all three of the summer musicals, but have just “picked and chosen” for the last several years. You pretty much have to do that now, because there are a lot more things going on here these days. The quality is better, too...in fact top notch. The sound, singing, acting, scenery, and choice of shows are all great.

This musical tribute to Cole Porter was done by an all-area high school cast representing nine high schools in Lenawee, Lucas, Washtenaw and Monroe counties. The play tells the story of Cole Porter's life with 30 musical song and dance numbers. Some of the songs were very familiar but some are rarely heard or performed. The young cast was enthusiastic and some displayed quite a bit of talent.

The Croswell was built in 1866 and is Michigan's oldest theater. The building was first known as the Adrian Union Hall and later was renamed the Croswell Opera House. The building was almost demolished in 1967 but it was saved and an historic marker was obtained in 1976 and is on the wall at the entrance.

Today the theater holds 600 patrons in the restored auditorium. Full-scale musicals are performed here as well as several concerts and a straight play plus the all-area high school musical. It is well worth a visit.

I can not say enough kind things about this little gem of a theatre located in in downtown Adrian. Not only are the performances top notch, broadway quality but the theatre itself is beautiful. So many opportunities for all ages from musicals, to plays, to camps, etc.

An amazing production. Bringing to stage an old but favorite story of Mary Poppins. The Croswell continues to be one our families favorite places to go to when attending live theater. Starting as young children, my 4 year old Granddaughter now ask when she will be able to go see something at the Croswell, even to keep one of that age engaged for a 3 hour performance is amazing and they have done it. A place of history the Croswell holds this as well as it still has modern productions. We are lucky to have such a wonderful place like this here in Adrian.
