Ignore the prices, rent a jeep for the day and drive out there. Completely worth it and a highlight of our week in Nantucket. Bring a camera and lots of bug spray! The only negative we're the swarms of mosquitoes

After years of vacationing on Nantucket, we finally made it out to Great Point. We rented a jeep for the week from Affordable Rentals, so we had the permit to go out there. It was well worth it! Fun driving out to the lighthouse in...More

If you have the ability to get to it, Great Point Light is as beautiful a place as I have ever seen on Nantucket. I spent many sunrises there as a young man fishing in the surf for blues and striped bass. So, if you...More

Most Nantucket visitors never experience a trip to the Great Point Lighthouse. Four wheel drive vehicle is required as well as a pay pass at the gate. Delete your tires to 15 psi, and with 4 wheel drive engaged off you go. Stay pretty much...More

We took Jeeps and went as far as you could go. It's peaceful...so beautiful and seals are at the end of the beach. They are also in the water which was amazing to see.

Amazing that they let you drive on the beach. 5-15 mph, like driving in 2 feet of snow according to my husband! You have to let the air out of the tires to 15 psi and then there are 2 air hoses to bring the...More

Had a great drive out to the lighthouse today. What a surprise when we found hundreds of seals at the point. From a distance we thought they were rocks with about 2 dozen seals, but upon a closer look, we realized what we were witnessing....More
