Lovely home, docent led tour that allowed us to hear about its history and the surrounding homes on the street. Very nicely restored and maintained and fun sculpture (not to period though). Glad this was on the combined ticket at the Whaling museum or we...More

One learns so much from guided tours here! Guides are really knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The house itself is very interesting and the garden is spectacular!

Doing a walking tour of the Nantucket Historical Society sites using the pass that we got with our Whaling Museum ticket. Almost passed this one by but fortunately stumbled upon it. Great history and wonderful old architecture and construction. The host was very knowledgeable and...More

Pay for the museum entrance and this is included. The walk up the hill from main street is worth the proce of admission, and the house and grounds are exceptionally nice.

We decided to visit this house as it was a great piece of history to Nantucket. From what we were able to see of the house, it was quite grand. Unfortunately, the tour was very short lived and we were only able to see the...More

From what I hear the Hadwens had many parties and dinners at this house (you can see the original china on display) and the interns who sleep upstairs often hear dishes and glasses clinking, chairs being moved, and laughter and chatter, but when they come...More

We came here on a guided tour of the Nantucket whaling museum. This is a beautiful building on the outside but not a beautiful interior. The furniture and décor is from the least interesting period of the Victorian era in America, and the closed-up rooms...More

Went to the Hadwen house on the Whaling Museum historical walking tour $10, which was fun. Only 2 rooms are open in the Hadwen house, but it was included on the tour and interesting.

Highly recommend a visit to the stately Hawden House. It is accessible through a walking tour by the Whaling Museum. The house and grounds are well preserved and paint a story of the opulence and prosperity of Hawden Family. It is a great vignette into...More

Thank you for your review of the Hadwen House! We are so glad you enjoyed your walking tour as well as your stop at Hadwen, a Greek Revival mansion built in 1846. Thank you again for taking the time to review your trip, we hope...More

A Walking Tour leaves from the Whaling Museum at 11:15 am and it's the only way to get inside this house. The Nantucket Historical Association website does not make this clear. We saw the house from the exterior and looked into the first floor front...More
