The kids wanted no part of the children's beach. It's more of a spot for day trippers to put their feet in the water. Very small and crowded with no restrooms nearby and not a place to stay for any length of time.
Our daughter was so ready to get out of the stroller! She had a blast at the park. They had balls and hula hoops - that was a nice touch. The beach was fine for a little wading with mom. We really enjoyed it.
Cute little beach area with a nice playground and small area of sand. Water was slightly murky though my 5 year old grandson didn't seem to mind! It was across from where my daughter and her family stayed so I can understand that it was...More
It's a beautiful view but I wouldn't take my kids swimming there (my personal opinion)! Watch people put their boats in, sit around and eat your lunch or walk over to the White Elephant. They have a stage and kids usually run around & I...More
Picturesque setting, no waves, attentive life guards, play ground (larger for older kids, smaller set for toddlers) & swings, green grass area, snack bar, showers, activities (see scheduled activities) what is not to love?
We've been going to children's beach for years. As a regular Nantucket visitor since the early 80's, this beach has always been one of our favorites. Calm waters, beautiful views of the inner harbor and great swimming.
Watch the ferry boats come and go!!
The beach is close to Inns and houses, however, very small and close to the docks. No bathrooms, or places to grab food. True to the name, this is a great place to bring the kids, with a grassy area and playground.
Do you have a recommendation for a photographer to shoot a beach portrait featuring children? Looking for that ultimate sunset photo with the kids by the ocean. Thank you.

There was a post not long ago on this forum about that issue. I don't recall the contents but you can probably search it. I know that when I stayed at Sandestin there were promotional materials there about a beach photographer that you simply had to show up to see around sunset at the Sandestin beach.
Children's Beach - Restaurant (2 Replies)
Last year we got up early on our first vacation day to take our kids to Children's beach for play and a yummy breakfast. Instead we found that the restaurant we have been going to forever is now an ice cream shack. WHAT A LETDOWN! Does anyone know if the ice cream shack failed and the breakfast place is back in business? We leave on Saturday for our annual trip. Thanks!

Yes, it is currently an ice cream shack. I kinda like it...I would love for the Westender in Madaket to serve ice cream too!
