worth A Visit

It's a bit of a hodge podge of a Museum but it is well worth a look around and aim to spend a reasonable amount of time there as there is a LOT to see and read.

This charming museum showcases life on Norfolk Island from early settlement through the years and offers a bit of everything. 5 rooms of items to explore. Although not a polished display, it has a charm and depth of exhibits worth seeing. You are also able to read about local history in some of the archives on display.

This is your typical historical town museum where anything being thrown out has found its way to the museum. There is a lot to study and the written notes in folders can entertain for a long time. So much information! However, it is probably past its prime with the founder now dead. It needs some love to bring it up... More

We spent two hours here, wanderng around the house, reading the wonderful stories, looking at yesteryear's incredible artifacts and searching for the ghost. Yep there is ghosts here, they have been experienced. Sadly not for this reviewer but for others. $10.00 per adult for the visit and well worth it.

This privately owned museum has so much "stuff" that you may need several visits to absorb it all ! A wonderful collection of memorabilia which tells so much of the settlement of Norfolk over the years

This is the most amazing little museum but stuffed to the rafters with curiosities and history. Many of the items pertaining to the history of Norfolk, you'll find nowhere else. Having said that, the museum is privately owned and maintained by a lady of mature years, hence 'a museum in a museum'. Some may be horrified by the dated presentation,... More

By far the largest collection of artifacts containing Norfolk Islands history. Copies of the English Newspaper detailing Captain Cooks 2nd global voyage in which he discovered and named Norfolk Island. Early photographs of the Pitcairn Settlers, photographs of whaling when enormous were hauled onto the shore Countless other interesting collections within a the collection. A place to while away an... More

This museum is absolutely packed full of history and holds a wealth of information for those keen to know more of Norfolk Island's history. One could spend hours here looking at beautifully written files and gazing at the displays. Truly a place that has been put together with love and respect.
