Vasko was an excellent guide, knowledgeable, friendly and funny. He was able to answer any questions people asked and gave some fantastic recommendations on food, drink and places to visit, including detailed practical information about public transports, ATMs, post offices etc. I highly recommend this tour on the first day of your trip to Skopje as it will help you appreciate the city and make the most of it. We immediately visited one of the recommended restaurants and the food was delicious.
The tour itself covered the history, politics and culture of Skopje and North Macedonia. He told us about the interesting history of he sculptures, architecture and monuments around the city and interspersed this with fascinating details of modern day local life and personal information.
This tour is free but I highly recommend tipping the guides as they deserve every penny and work hard to ensure you have a great day.

Zoran showed us around for more than three hours. He was so enthusiastic that in the end we had to ask him to wrap up to make our restaurant reservation. He knows everything about city (being born and raised) and is more than happy to elaborate on your specific interest, be it politics, economy, culture, religion or sports. Highly recommended to do as soon as you’re in town, so you can decide which to get more into on your own.

My wife and I have enjoyed many free walking tours over the years but this was unquestionably one of the best. During the 3.5 hour tour, Zoran delivered an amazing amount of fascinating information about the history, religion, culture, politics, economy, demographics, geography, architecture, food and drink, must-see attractions, and zany peculiarities of Macedonia in general and Skopje in particular. He has a very clear, engaging, and humorous way of describing things so it's a very enjoyable experience despite the 3+ hours. We highly recommend that you take take this tour on your first day in Skopje as it will really help you appreciate the city that much more.

Zoran was a great guide, he showed us around the most interesting parts of the city, had a great sense of humour and was very talkative. We were a small group and stopped for a coffee during the tour as it was cold (Last day of November).
One thing to note is that we were followed on the tour by some of the local stray dogs (who liked to chase cars passing by) they were clean and friendly to us, but might put people off who are people afraid of dogs.

I recommend this tour if you are looking for a good way to see the main highlights of the city and learn about Skopje and Macedonian history. The tour guide, Vosko, is very friendly and knowledgeable. He welcomes any questions and will provide recommendations for the rest of your trip if you ask. It was about 3 hours and we saw the main features of Skopje and learned interesting facts about the history of the city without it being too overwhelming. He was also funny. Definitely recommend if you have a free evening. You will end near the Old Bazaar, a perfect place to grab a traditional meal.

Zoran was everything you could want in a tour guide, he knew all the history, could provide any kind of recommendation, and on top of all this he's a born entertainer. Me and my friend spent 3 hours with him and it felt a lot shorter because we were always laughing. 100% would recommend.

Free Skopje Walking Tours is the way to see and enjoy this charming city. Guide Vasko is full of facts and humor as he explains in superb English the complex history and present of the city he accurately calls 'a mosaic'. His anecdotes about each place we visited made them important and memorable. We returned to several the next day because of his comments, and followed his suggestions about where and what to eat: 'the small places are the best.” We do free walking yours wherever they are available. Vasko is the best.

UsuallyI dont do walking tours, but because of short time in skopje, I wanted also to hear little bit more about the city and history and the life here. Vasko was a very nice guide, he has knowledge and he is fun person, also giving attencion to everybody. Im glad I chose this companys tour!
Iso suositus tälle kävelykierrosten järjestäjälle. Lähes kolme tuntia meni mukavasti, vaikka ilma olikin melko viileä :)

We were here back in September 2019 and found the tour guide easily in Macedonia Square. As others have said, there's a lot of humour about the Greeks and the EU in Brussels during the tour, as well as a lot of history and facts about the history, although some of the city centre is very modern.
We had a friendly street dog follow us for some of the tour - he was harmless. You'll see the paint-stained Parliament building, try some Macedonian pastry, find out about the modernisation of the city, then check out the second largest bazaar in Europe before heading to the fortress. Highlight for me was the lift shop(?!) Definitely recommended.

Good evening. We are in skopje for a few days and want to see the city. Are there tours in the next days? If yes, when and were?😄
Written May 13, 2023
Hey,
Based on the information on their website (freeskopjewalkingtours is the domain name), tours are organized every day at 10 am and 5 pm, however, for the afternoon tour (or, just to be safe, also for the morning tour) you can contact the organizers via WhatsApp/Viber (sadly, I cannot add the number here but it is available on the website). The meeting place is the Main Square (the one with the gigantic sculpture of Alexander the Great), more specifically, somewhere near the Tsar Samuil monument (a man sitting on his throne); you will notice the tour guide by the blue umbrella.
I hope this answers your question and you will enjoy your stay in Skopje.

You're welcome to join us today from 10AM or 5PM or tomorrow from 5PM. Because of the Pope visit and the extreme security measures around the city center, the morning 10AM tour on May 7th (Tuesday) has been cancelled. Regards Zoran
