Skopje is one of the cities with most number of statues. And the Macedonia Square is probably the most recognizable site for Skopje.

there was a military performance on the day of my visit, so it was a very grand spectacle to see uniformed officers with the multitude of statues around. it makes for a great photograph!

The square is the heart of the city, and very impressive.
The square is full of bars and restaurants open til late in the night.
My hotel suite was on the square and it was amazing.
The square is anchored by a huge fountain, that attracts everyone all hours of the day.
Across the bridge (at the foot of the square) is the Macedonian Museum as well as the Holocaust museum. Beyond those are the Fortress and Old Bazaar. All easily accessible from the square.
As far as city squares go in the Balkans, this is the most European one that I have seen.

We really loved the city center of Skopje, even though it is pretty new, with a ton of statues all around. The city had to be completely rebuild after the earthquake of 1963, and they did a great job. The giant statue of Alexander The III dominates the whole area, an absolute must do!

Not that interesting square apart from the massive tall and impressive statue of A Warrior on a Horse, which officially is not Alexander the Great, On one side os it there is a nice restaurant which with a good menu and which will cater for vegetarians and vegans. There are also some smaller restaurants and cafés and a couple of interesting leading off it. One of which will take you to Skopje's 'Arc De Triomphe', but why it needs one I do not know. A visit to the square is a must solely to see the impressive statue.

Yes, one of those main squares in the world of main squares. Statues, cafes and restaurans, old looking buildings, lot’s of people and more expencive prices. ”Must see” for those who must see this but when you have seen one you have seen them all

We only came across here by accident. Please don’t go out of your way looking for it. Not much there apart from a big statue in the middle. If your walking around Skopje you will most likely come across it. Don’t waste your time looking for it or you will just be disappointed.

Quite boring and I would even say a weird planning, composition and sculpture design. Some has a strange body ratio, poses, so on. As I have an art and history of art education, I know what I’m talking about. It’s not subjective bias.

The main square is impressive with a lot of statues. Unfortunately it is all essentially new and rather than being contemporary strives to match squares in other European capitals. It’s a pity as the space could have been really unique and a whole lot less kitch.

This is the main and biggest square in Macedonia. It is a brand new square with its marvelous architecture. The main attractions is the king Alexander the Great statue with the water fountain. Many statues dominate the square as well. Light and water show are fabulous. Spend 1 hour during your evening to explore this beautiful square.

Skopje by far wins the worst European capital prize. This square is just a display of it all. Nevermind that it is full of historical inaccuracies, it is just ugly! I cannot believe they are spending so much money to do that when the old town is lying just on the other side of the river and has some atmosphere about it going on, but unfortunately it is decaying and some buildings are literally falling apart...
