- CymroCoimbra, Portugal3,355 contributionsDefinitely The Best Part of SkopjeThere is not a lot to see site wise in Skopje that was not built in the past 20 years, so a stroll around the old town makes a refreshing change from the rest of the city. The streets are narrow and either cobbled or paved and lined with shops, cafés and restaurants. A pleasant way to spend an hour or two.Written January 3, 2022
- Solveig MGothenburg, Sweden10 contributionsWhere the old meets the newI am temporarily living in Skopje and this is one of my favorite place to visit so far. It is a good combination of old ottoman architecture (the hammams, inns and numerous mosques) and newer more contemporary architecture (the museums and hotels). If you are visiting Skopje I would recommend visiting the Old Bazaar and dine in some of the small traditional restaurants and drink some traditional Turkish tea or coffee that go well with "baklava" (pastry filled with nuts).Written May 18, 2021

Very authentic market and area worth a few hours. Lovely coffee houses and traditional food.
Not all cafes have toilets so be prepared. If you want to be immersed in culture, its the place to go! From the narrow cobbled streets to the Call to Prayer, its a great atmosphere 😊

When visiting Skopje I went to the Bazar, there are so many shops to buy lots of different things from. It's very good to get some souveniers for home, really enjoyed it

We could easily spend a few hours wandering around the old bazaar and watching the locals going about their business. The gold street where they sell wedding gowns and gold and silver jewellary was particularly interesting. There are many good restaurants and cafes hidden amongst the shops and stalls too. Definately worth a visit.

Wasn't impressed. Old fashioned clothes shops mostly. The roads maybe. Pity we missed the ice cream. That was the only thing that looked nice

A great selection of small winding streets with a wide range of shops and restaurants. One of the nicest aspects is that none of the shop keepers are forceful or hassle you when walking past, and it doesn’t have any of the expected pressure you’d imagine when reading up on the area. There’s clearly a lot of history and some nice monuments as you’re passing through, and with plenty of cafes and restaurants you can easily spend a whole day exploring at a leisurely pace. Definitely one of the highlights of the city.

A must see if you are in Skopje,
There are many things to do and see in and around the Bazaar.
Mosques', historical buildings, shops, restaurants, the jewellery street and so on...
Make sure to wander around and don't be scared to wander in the less touristy streets to enjoy and view the local life in the bazaar a bit more.
Adjacent to the bazaar is also a great covered market for fruits and veggies and so on.

Gewone winkeltijden, het is een markt met kraampjes. De sfeer is geweldig, maar de aangeboden waar is niet interessant.

I suppose the question is "Do they have a Christmas market?". As far as I know they have it on Macedonia square.
