About
EXHIBIT AREA Gallery The exhibit area in the Memorial House of Mother Teresa was conceived so as to look like an urban house from the early 20th century. The aim of the exhibit is to follow the life of Mother Teresa from her childhood spent in her native Skopje through the years spent as a Missionary of Charity, all the way until her death and beatification. The most important items in this museum are the signature white sari with blue stripes (second-class relic), the official habit of the Missionaries of Charity, a copy of the Baptism certificate from the Catholic Church Sacred Heart of Jesus, authorized copies of documents with her handwriting and her awards. Chapel Above the gallery, there is a small chapel where the priests from the Catholic Church hold services.

It's a quaint little building built on a busy shopping walkway and has various designs running through it's structure. This is not the original building nor the original place where it was built. It has been moved from the walkway between the Porta Macedonia and Macedonia Square to allow for newer building work. A statue of the great woman stands to the left of the house and you'll also find others of her inside. As well as that you'll aslo find a lot of her life story depicted in photos and pictures of her all around the walls as well as various items of houseware that she grew up using. Interesting place without being inspiring which it should be to befit the ladyVisited November 2023Traveled soloWritten December 2, 2023

A visit to this small museum won’t require too much of your time, but it will definitely provide a breath of fresh air. Even if this stop hadn’t been incorporated into the walking tour I was on, I would have gladly made a special trip to the museum during my free time in Skopje.Visited September 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 28, 2024

The chapel above the museum proviee a calming and relaxing environment. The small gift shop offers Mother Teresa artifacts, including holy cards in several languages. Just like mother Teresa herself, everything in the memorial house is concise, compact, and meaningful.Visited July 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 28, 2024

Very small but in a cool building, and considering it was free, I can't really complain. The exhibit is self explanatory and limited to one room. None of the staff acknowledged or spoke to us, but maybe it was because they didn't speak English or didn't want to interact with people due to COVID. Overall worth popping in to.

Somehow this house doesn’t come together. It doesn’t look like a house and is essentially one room with a random bed and table in the middle and some photos and a few letters. You’re letting wanting more for sure and while it is free to enter, could do with a make over

The memorial house itself (thinking of the architecture and facade) may seem odd, yet it has a deep symbolical meaning which I found at least intriguing, if not anything else. The exhibition inside, however, is comparably small, I would have wished for a more interactive/audiovisual experience.
The memorial house is located in the center, therefore, if you are walking by it, don't hesitate to go inside. The visit shouldn't exceed 20 minutes of your time, and you will be able to see many photos and examine the biography of Mother Teresa.

Not much inside. Outside are 4 mounds of rocks, with a metal ball on top, signifying Mother Teresa’s view that though a drop (metal ball) is small, even an ocean (mound of rocks) would be nothing without that drop. Each mound was supposed to include a fountain, but the city ran out of cash.

The Memorial House is worth a quick visit if you are interested in Mother Teresa. It has a small gift shop and a small museum. The museum contains artifacts from the period Mother Teresa was growing up in Skopje but not necessarily belonging to her. I found the chapel in the 3rd level quite pretty and the highlight of the Memorial House. You can tour the Memorial House in around 30 minutes.

For those who know the life and works of this Saint, a visit to this small museum dedicated to her, also visited in 2019 by Pope Francis, is a must. The Museum was built in the same place where the Church where Mother Teresa was baptized stood. Free entry and very kind girl present in the Museum who provided us with the brochure in Italian and gave many explanations about the Museum and its creation and about the Saint's life in Skopje.

This small, self-guided "memorial house" is not to be missed during your trip to Skopje. There is a nice exhibition of St. Mother Teresa's writings and personal effects, including a life-size statue of her that is eerily human and quite affecting. The tiny gift shop has a surprisingly vast collection of tasteful souvenirs and gifts from Albania and Macedonia, most of which are imbued with Mother Teresa's image and sayings. It won't take long to stop in to this curiously wonderful gem of a place; it's within walking distance of the "Warrior on a Horse" Fountain in the center of Skopje.
