Admission is cheap and a short tour of the church is included. It was very impressive, particularly the carvings. We also enjoyed the tour a lot. Our guide was both informative and funny. Very glad we stopped in.

Very beautiful place to visit. The iconostas is amazing! Do not miss if you are in Skopje. Entrance is 120 mkd, worth to visit.

I only knew to go to this church because my personal guide tried to bring me here, but it turned out to be closed that day (a Monday). He told me it would be worth going back on my own, so I returned the next day. The gorgeous old intricately carved wooden iconostasis was the biggest reason he tried to bring me here, and he was right that it is stunning. The church also has additional gorgeous old carvings, and it has partial old frescoes that are beautiful but are more typical of old Orthodox churches in the region. My guide had explained that the church is partially sunken because doing this was the main requirement of the Ottoman Empire for them to approve the building of a church. (The church I visited that's near Skopje but not in it isn't sunken but dates from before the Ottoman era. See my review if interested.)

As a previous review notes, the tomb of one of the leaders of Macedonia's fight for independence is located in the church's courtyard. The courtyard was still open on the day the church was closed.

Entrance is 120 dr (cash only). I didn't have enough in small bills and the person collecting fees didn't have enough on hand to make change, and she very kindly insisted that I go in anyway.

The church dates to the 16th century. It was damaged in the earthquake in 1963. Part of it lies 2 meters underground as Christian churches are not allowed to be taller than mosques. The courtyard leading into the church contains a sarcophagus with the remains of Goce Dolcev a leader in Macedonia's revolution. The church has beautiful Byzantine iconography and the remains of a fresco from the 16th century. The woodwork is exquisite. The icons contain silver and are very beautiful.
