I brought my 2 and 9 year old daughters here we did the shortest hike up to the solstice stones there was. I think it was about 1 mile total. My 2 year old (will be 3 in November) absolutely loved and had no problem with the hike. My 9 year old liked it but wished we could do more. Can't wait to come back with the 9 year old and explore some more and do some of the longer trails. The top of the hill had some beautfiul views, even on the way up we had some spots with wonderful views. The Solstice stone were pretty cool at the top too. The kids enjoyed playing at the top for a bit

Ward reservation an idyllic way to spend some time in the woods exploring some ancient Andover roads, find Phillips Andover’s old ski jump, walk in the fields while enjoying a distant view of Boston or climb the fire tower for excitement. The Trustees have created a place where you could hike for a day and not see the same thing twice, all within a couple of square miles. There is a parking fee but it’s a small price to pay for well kept trails and maps to find them just a short drive from either of the Andovers.

This is an interesting and demanding urban preserve. We hiked for about 4 miles on a warm day, then headed off to North Andover for a late lunch. We especially liked Rubbish Meadow with its Great Blue Heron rookery and other nesting birds. It is worth returning to in other seasons.

One small problem is that the map and signage are not well aligned with each other. It is easy to go astray but backtracking works ok.

Ward reservation is a sprawling range of mixed wood forests, rolling hills and scenic views. With trails ranging from easy to intermediate, it's a great destination for families and folks just looking to get in a nice nature walks. In the summer evenings, it's common to find yourself listening to the sounds of hooting owls. By day, you're sure to find many varieties of meadow birds including a growing flock of North American Blue Birds. This is, without a doubt one of the finest places to walk in the greater Merrimack Valley.

We traveled to the Ward Reservation to find Holt Hill. As a descendant of Nicholas Holt I was interested in seeing where my ancestors started out. The views from the top of Holt Hill are breathtaking, and the trails are great for all ages. We will definitely make another trip to walk the trails during foliage season.

You can see Boston from the top of the hill. Nature at its best in New England for glorious hikes. Conveniently located in Andover. Do not miss this jewel.

Fabulous old roads and trails from hundreds of years ago (1600's) with view of Boston from the top on Holt Hill and Boston Hill. Amazing secret close to Boston and 495 and 93. And very few people were there! Ssh....don't tell them!

Nice hiking trails including one up to the top of Holt Hill with views of the Boston skyline on a clear day. Combining the Graham and Vetter Trails makes for a good 3 mile hike.

We have gone to the top of holt hill many times since we live nearby. It is our "go to" place on the weekend for a short hike. There are several ways to get to the top and depending on the time at hand we use one of the trails. The view at the top always feels rewarding. You can see the Boston skyline and the greenery from Andover all the way to Boston. My kids used to go sledding down the hill in winter when they were young. What fun!
