Very well maintained, large, open areas; kid and pet friendly. Picnic tables, adequate resting benches, easy graveled paths. Friendly locals, used mostly by elderly walkers from the nearby YMCA, state office workers on their lunch breaks, moms with strollers. Weekends, families picnic. Busy even in winter. Great family park. We've been here all seasons, even though the listings here only... More

Capitol Park is a large park in Augusta stretching from the State House down almost to the Kennebec River. A large part of the park is a well-maintained lawn, though it is ringed by trees, and the western side of the park is lightly wooded. Walking paths and trails crisscross the park, and it's a makes for a great walk.... More

I was involved with the Vietnam Memorial many years ago and wanted it to remain maintained, as well as taken care of on a regular basis. The park looks good and it is a nice place to walk around.

There is parking around most of the edge of this park. The "Fallen Buddy" memorial is a must see for anyone who has a relative in the military. (made by ship builders at Bath Iron Works) The Rail Trail between Augusta & Gardiner is only a few steps away. And views of the capitol buildings just across the street. Lots... More

A hidden treasure in the midst of Augusta. A wonderful place to walk or have a picnic or walk your dog or just relax during lunch or your break.

This park is a lovely place to come for a picnic, a walk, a jog, a game of whiffleball or to lie on the grass and read a book. There are old shade trees and gravel paths and a Viet Nam Memorial. It sits under the imposing State Capital building up on the hill.

Capitol Park, as it's name suggests in located across from the state Capitol building. It's a wonderful location to have a picnic and there are walking paths all around it to stretch your legs. It's also near the Maine State Museum and the Kennebec River Rail Trail.

I lived on Center Street about a 1 to 2 minute walk away. I always played there as a kid. Alot of people seemed to use it back in the day, but no one really knows it is there. Much is unchanged since my childhood days. They have added a few nice benches and a couple graveled paths, but not... More

Lots of space to play ball with the family, have a picnic or a family party. Well maintained, easily accessible. Right across from the YMCA and the police station.
