Founded in 1986, Abita was the first craft brewery to open in the Southeast. Today, we produce 160,000 barrels of beer annually in a range of great tasting, unpretentious styles including Abita Amber, Purple Haze, and Wrought Iron IPA. Located just north of New Orleans, we recently completed a three-year, $30 million state-of-the-art expansion of the brewery that will increase our capacity to 400,000 barrels while introducing groundbreaking environmental advancements to the brewing process.

We enjoyed the tour. Well worth the $5 tour fee, even though the tour lasts about 30 minutes it includes a flight of beer, choice of four 4 oz beers. They even have nonalcoholic sodas for the kids. Employees are delightful and helpful.

Brought my son and a friend of his to the soda tour and they enjoyed it. The place was very clean and the staff was friendly and professional. Monica was our tour guide. She was great as she interacted with the younger kids. Although, the tour was short we enjoyed it. And the sodas were great!!

For $5.00, took the tour and received 5 tokens to try 5 different samples of beer. Kids are welcome. (some of the samples are root beer, creme soda, etc. ) Staff was so nice and welcoming. Stayed longer to hang out in their new "taproom" with big screen TV's! Would make a great spot to watch a Saint's game.!! Definitely... More

We were lucky to have a private tour of the brewery. The beer flight tasting was a treat and the store is full of goodies. The picnic area outside has tables with umbrellas and a food truck for lunch. The area is fenced so it was good to let the dogs run around and play. Good place to go for... More

This place has flourished over the past 15 years and grown exponentially! My husband and I love to go to the beer tastings, and since they have grown and added on to their building, with the beautiful outdoor courtyard, and wonderful antiques indoors, it is the perfect place to sample all the different flavor beers they offer. They also their... More

While visiting New Orleans, we had always wanted to go across the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, so Abita Brewery was our destination. The tour was just average. The girl explaining the process was rather boring, but the bartender made up for lack of excitement. The beer was very good, especially the Bayou Bootlegger. Purple Haze was also good. We bought root... More

Loved our visit to the Abita Brewery! We are locals and decided to visit one Saturday. Was a lot of fun seeing the brewery and tasting beer that isn't even sold yet. The brewery only operates brewing Monday though Thursday so if you want to see it in action go on those days. Need to wear closed toe shoes or... More

My husband sells beer here in Illinois and we love Abita so a visit to the brewery while in NO was very special and I highly recommend a visit. It is worth the picturesque drive for the impressive tour and tasting room for sure. Some Saturdays they have food trucks, but if not, stop at the old brewery which is... More

There are some who say the word "Abita" means "healing water" in one of the local Native American languages. There's no doubt the natural spring water from the actual Abita Springs has rejuvenating powers...and the tasty brews crafted from these waters even more so. Abita Beer was the only name in the game for Louisiana microbrews from the mid-80's until... More
