Buy your card for $2, put another few bucks on it and you’re set for the metro...$.35 per trip per traveller and you can use one card for as many travellers as are in your family/group. We spent 17 days in PTY and stayed a couple of blocks from the metro so we could use the metro to get across the city hassle free. Busy as locals go to and from work, busy on Saturday. Extremely cheap and convenient.

Gustavo Mojico was recommended by a close friend who originally is from Panama and had used him for a recent HS reunion. I was very impressed with his knowledge of the city , the canal and its history . We used him for airport pickup, City tour, Gamboa Monkey island tour. He was always perfectly on time, courteous and caring. He seems to know someone at every stop we made. His prices were more than competitive particularly when you consider his price is per tour group-we were a couple. I'd expect higher prices for a larger group . Now that there are two lines, the Panama Metro has a reasonable coverage of much of the Panama City and provides a fast, clean air-conditioned and efficient way of getting around. As the Panama Metro card can also be used on buses, combining the metro and buses provides even better access to more of the city. The two possible drawbacks are that it is very crowded at morning and evening peak times (so avoid these if possible) and it isn't possible to buy single-journey tickets. However, buying a Metro Card and loading it with dollars is fairly straightforward: the machines have English as well as Spanish and help from ticket office staff is usually available.
