If you want to see Panama wildlife with very experienced, knowledgable and enjoyably fun people ... this is your choice. Hands down. We were picked up form our location promptly, enjoyed a quick ride from Panama City to the Gamboa docks. We were boated promptly and safely along the canal to areas where you are bound to see spectacular wildlife. Marta, our wonderfully experienced guide and our boat captain had eagle eyes and helped spot a myriad of amazing sights. You will see birds, animals and a host of natural sights well worth the effort and cost. Pay for the excellent guides whose knowledge will enhance the trip. We have been on dozens of such excursions and from start to finish this rates among the top ever. So pleased. (Can you give 6 stars?)

I contacted Jenn Sinasac back in November and she was very helpful answering my questions about Panama. She replied very promptly and provided additional information. My group was looking at various agencies for guide services, but because Jenn was so helpful and professional we chose Whitehawk Birding and Conservation for our trip to Pipeline Road.
Edwin Campbell was our guide. He was great! His knowledge of bird calls, where to find targeted species, and ability to quickly identify birds was impressive. But what our group really appreciated was his personality. He shared interesting facts about the history of Panama, Pipeline Road and the surrounding villages. He made our day very enjoyable. I will definitely use Whitehawk Birding and Conservation again.
Best,
Felix

Where else but Panama City can you be transported from an urban environment to the rain forest in less than 10 minutes? Metropolitan Park yielded 42 species in about 90 minutes during a very pleasant morning walk. The excursion was tailored to our capacities. Edwin, a biologist with a master’s degree and wide experience, shared information about species behavior and habitat. We were thrilled with all we saw and learned.

From Panama City, we took a private (2 people) half-day birding tour; it was a GREAT experience birding in the Gamboa area! Our guide, Michael was absolutely fabulous and so very nice! His ability to spot birds and call in birds was amazing. I couldn't tell the difference between his calls and the calls from the birds! I wish I could do that! The number of birds seen was phenomenal. Jenn who handled the reservation was also top-notch and always very responsive. I highly recommend this company for any personalized birding opportunities while in Panama. I understand Michael also does multi-day tours all over Panama which sounds terrific. My only regret is that we only had time for one tour!

We found Whitehawk Birding and Conservation online while searching for a personal birding guide in Panama. We could not have been happier or found a better guide than Jenn. From our initial email contact, Jenn was responsive, informative and clear about all aspects of the tour. We were so impressed with her that we ended up booking a 2nd tour with Whitehawk! The first was a day-long guided tour of Pipeline Road in Gamboa and the next day on the Panama Canal and Gatun Lake. Both tours were amazing. Jenn seems to know every bird and their calls by heart. As if the tours weren’t special enough, Jenn followed up by sending e-bird lists for us to keep and continues to offer assistance long past the tour. Talk about top-notch customer service! A special thanks to both Jenn and Angel for making our time in Panama City memorable.

Whitehawk Birding is a fantastic company. Highly recommend using them for booking trips. Jenn responded to emails very quickly with a lot of detail and easy payment options. We had 3 full day bird trips with Edwin in mid February 2023. Edwin was excellent. He knew birds by calls, called them in and quickly found them. My husband has some sight issues and Edwin used the laser pointer to assist in finding the birds for us. We saw 156 birds in 3 days and some wildlife. We were provided with excellent and healthy lunches, sandwiches with multiple fruit options and hummus and chips for dipping.
Highly recommend Whitehawk Birding. Awesome experience from start to finish!

We have just returned from our first trip Panama and toured with Whitehawk for 3 days. We covered the Pipeline road , Metropolitan Park and also the Gamboa Rainforest Resort area. this was an amazing tour and we highly recommend it to all. Panama is a beautiful country and we were able to see so many species of birds and animals.
Jenn, Marta and Edwin were amazing guides, very knowledgable and so helpful. They do whatever they can to make your trip comfortable and are very accommodating. They also will recommend different activities, restaurants and canal travel information as needed.
Communication with Jenn was very organized and planning the trip was a pleasure. She was very easy to work with even though we had to change some dates and number of guests attending. I will highly recommend this organizaton to all.

We spent 10 days birding in Cuba with Whitehawk and I highly recommend Whitehawk and this tour. Our guide, Maikel Cañizares Morera, was superb. He's an enthusiastic and excellent ornithologist and bird guide. He also worked hard looking after our welfare and comfort. We stayed in casas particulares (essentially B&Bs) that were comfortable and whose owners were friendly. The tour also included city tours of old Havana and Trinidad and a visit to a tobacco farm that were all quite interesting. The pre-trip communication and documentation from Whitehawk was also excellent. Whitehawk provided us a memorable trip.

I was extremely pleased with my Whitehawk tour experience. I had two individual tours to Pipeline Road and the Cerro Azul area. Arranging the tours from the states was super easy, I sent an email to their contact email and Marta got back to me immediately and explained my options, the costs and what was included (like lunch and pick up at my hotel). I picked Pipeline Road, but for my second trip, just requested a place with different birds and Edwin, my guide, decided on Cerro Azul. I was not disappointed. I opted to pay the extra $20 for entrance to the Rainforest Discovery Center, which is next to Pipeline Road and was happy about that. They have a canopy tower where we saw for miles and had good views of those birds. The highlight of the Discovery Center, however, is the hummingbird feeder station (the bathroom was a close second. You see many of the same hummers as along Pipeline Road, but you usually don't get to see them for long. I was able to get lovely photos at the feeder station, which is where we also had our lunch on the covered deck. I had advised them I was a vegan and they provided an appropriate lunch. Finally, my guide Edwin Campbell was first rate. He was extremely knowledgeable about the birds, but also about where to see particular species (including the uncommon species). Let them know if you are interested in any particular species ahead of time. The birds of Panamá were the true stars, but Edwin too was a star, he over delivered on my expectations and sent my life list out of control. I highly recommend Whitehawk Birding.

We birdied with Whitehawk on Pipeline Rd in Panama. Jenn was our guide. She and the company were fantastic. Our schedule was changing daily due to the COVID-19. Jenn was flexible and understanding. We finally got our day of birding in and it was fantastic. Jenn’s level of knowledge and ability to locate the birds was outstanding. I highly recommend her and the company for any of your birding needs.

Hi, we are a family who loves all wildlife and going for a trip in Panama. I would like to know if we can expect to see and learn about other wildlife in the tour, or is it 100% focused on bird-watching? Thank you

Hi Maude. Thanks for contacting Whitehawk. Since we specialize in customized tours, we can definitely tailor the trip to meet your family's interests. There are some great places to search for at least 3 different species of moneys, two species of sloths, reptiles/amphibians, butterflies, etc. Tours can range from half day to full day to multi-day trips. Our guides are knowledgeable about all wildlife and would be happy to share their knowledge with you and your family.

I am considering a 12 day birding trip with Whitehawk to Colombia, but wonder what else we might do besides birding? It looks like a fantastic trip, but I wonder if it is "too much" birding? The itinerary does not mention anything else. Thanks in advance for any input.

Hi. Thank you for your question and for your interest in our trip to Colombia. We would love to have you join us. You are correct, in that the main focus of this trip will be birding. Several of the places we will stay have feeders for birds and we will spend some relaxing time there, and we will also look for some mammal species, as possible, and enjoy the amazing Colombian landscapes (good for photography). In addition, we will spend some nights in cities, which you could explore, if you would like to. I apologize for not replying sooner - I am currently on a tour in India. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any more questions. Thanks again!

Hello everyone. Regarding Whitehawk Birding tours, where in Panama are they located, and what hotels can be found in that region. Any suggestions and advice would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello!
Thank you for your inquiry. We mainly operate out of Panama City, even though we can visit most areas in the country. From Panama City our main destinations are Pipeline Road, Cerro Azul, El Valle...
Regarding accommodation, there are plenty of hotels in the city ranging from very luxurious to very economical, or those located in the middle of the city to those close to the rainforest.
A quick search on Trip Advisor should give you an idea of what is available (I cannot add a link to the hotels list, but it should be easy to search for them at the top of the Trip Advisor page).
If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact us directly.
Thanks!
