I like to travel like the locals, so we took the subway to the 5 de Mayo station and walked a few blocks. The covered pedestrian walkway over the highway was littered with human feces. I'm not kidding - it was disgusting. So, take a cab. It's hard to find and it's rather small. You only need 20 minutes to... More

First: This place is IMPOSSIBLE to find. Asked eight or ten people along the way (after exiting the subway) and were finally advised to take a cab, because nobody knew where the museum or even the street was. By the way.........................., NOT an UNUSUAL experience in Panama City, which has almost no street signs. Museum is tiny: no larger than... More

When Panama took control of former US installations on the land adjacent to Martyrs Avenue one of its forward thinking moves was the establishment of the Museum of Contemporary Art on one of the reverted buildings. On a leafy hill overlooking the bustling city below the MAC serves as a lively showcase venue for Panama s modern artist as well... More

Not sure what other people have been seeing in this museum. We saw nothing but a photographic exhibit of the canal riots and a Japanese characters. It was funny seeing a life sized hello kitty figure. There were 3 pieces of art for sale two of which were done by children.

Museo Arte Contemporaneo overlooks the new overpass in Avenida de Los Martires; it is worth the effort to discover. Eventually, the location will be Casco Antiguo but that will take several more years...Meanwhile, there are interesting exhibits and events, many by local artists and musicians but also by world-renowned artists like Uribe. Through May, 2013, the Uribe exhibit ("Two Hemispheres"--as... More

Most of the attractions in Panama City center on the Panama Canal or history, so it was refreshing to find this piece of contemporary culture. The exhibitions in this museum, we learned, are always changing. We were treated to an exhibition of Central American Artists. The pieces ranged included paintings drawings, sculpture, video and even interactive pieces. All the works... More
