This is a great past to this part of the city and the church plays a key role in it. Part of the important architecture of the "Old City"

The Basilica Santa Maria la Antigua in Panama Cathedral is a Catholic church located in the old town of Panama . It was consecrated in 1796, although construction work began in 1688, 108 years earlier. The cathedral is the episcopal see of the Archdiocese of Panama .

This beautiful colonial church is right dab in the center of Casco Viejo facing the Plaza Catedral. Once you walk through its massive doors you are engulfed in the cool darkness of this old beauty. If you love architecture, this is a must see.

One of my favorite buildings in the old city. The tops of the towers were encrusted with shells, very unique.

A dark stone façade is flanked by a white bell tower on each side topped with mother of pearl. This area is undergoing such wonderful renovations and is a delightful place to walk on a Sunday with the market... More

Pretty for a picture in the plaza. And that's about it. The plaza itself is pleasant enough. Didn't go inside.

If you have a walk in casco viejo for sure you will pass by a cathedral. The fasade is moved from an orginal place to casco viejo.
