Under renovation right now

The Cathedral is spendid! Unfortunately the facade is covered right now during a renovation. Still lots to see and do in the area though.

During our tour we had an opportunity of seeing this Cathedral and to see the architecture, brilliant colours and overall structure one can only appreciate the overall significance of this structure.

Beautiful cathedral in old town. The colonial architecture and the history was very interesting. It is well maintained.

We only got to see the Cathedral from the exterior due to our time constraint, but it was a wonderful example of religious architecture typical of the Spanish Colonial era.

A very central part of Panamanian history. Great story about the "Golden Alter and Henry Morgan". It is great folklore of his plunder of the city.

We couldn't go inside it because it was under renovation. But we see the effort the City is putting into fix the old buildings (and the money) and keeping the old heritage at the same time. I have no doubt this will be beautiful when they finish it.

This is much like most cathedrals in many Central American cities. The day we were there, there was a bazaar in front selling various wares. The church is like most; grandiose, dark, cool, with few people inside! If you happen to be in old town and have a few minutes, this is worth your time.

This huge old cathedral stands in ruins in Panama Viejo. The predominant structure in Panama Viejo, it holds a position of importance at the central square of the ruined city. Be sure to climb the tower for a great view over the ruins.

Walk around, and climb the stairs to see the modern city at a distance, and the bells at the top. There are old photos. Nice place to take photos, and a museum very near.

By the time I visited this place, the Cathedral was under reconstruction, I missed to see the architectural style of it, though I took a break on a bench in the little plaza in front of. Let's wait to see how it looks when it's done.
