The school is has wonderful teachers, is in a great location, and is passionate about teaching.
My husband and I have been learning Spanish since October 2020. We have 1 1-hour class per week via zoom with a Spanish speaking teacher who lives in Mexico. We wanted to get an experience of being in a Spanish speaking country and work on our Spanish to help us understand items we did not understand and be full immersed in the language. We work full time and didn't have the time to take 2 weeks off. It was very difficult to find a school that would accommodate only one week of learning. Casco Antiguo Spanish School did just that. We were there for 1 week and took class from 1pm-5pm. They offered after hours gatherings which were nice. The teachers were amazing. They spoke Spanish the entire class. They have an agenda with exercises for the week. Because we have been learning Spanish I asked our teacher to review 3 items with us and she quickly change the focus of our learning. We wanted to learn directions, eso/esto/aquello, and hacer/hay/hace. We left there with full understanding of what it was we wanted to learn. The teachers are able to communicate in Spanish such that you can understand their explanations and they will continue to teach in various ways so that you learn it. We spent 6 hours on just ester and ser....and it was so helpful! The location of the school is great. We stayed at La Compania, which was perfect. They have an exercise room, pool, and their staff and restaurants were great. I highly recommend the school.

    Loved every second!
My friend and I did a few lessons here to top up our Spanish skills after doing a week in a school in Guatemala and I preferred our time here! We ended up extending our lessons because we were learning so much Rogelio was absolutely incredible. So fun but also so helpful and smart. But all the staff seemed so lovely. They offer extra activities as well if you wanted to get more involved which I love at any school Loved our time at this school! Would recommend to anyone! Definitely worth doing whether you’re a beginner or need a bit of help

Casco Antiquo Spanish School, Our Experiance!
My wife & I, both retired and with no Spanish language knowledge, decided to study Spanish for two weeks in April 2024 while in Panama City. We chose the Casco Antiquo Spanish School! It was an excellent choice. Mr. Ismail, the receptionist, always made sure that each and every student was fully accomodated to there full satisfaction. The teachers, the study hours, the classroom allocations, the curriculam levels and the activities... He also provided us with the best choice answeres to our curiouse questions about where to eat, what to visit, and how to achieve our plans! Mr. David, the owner, I congratulate him for establishing and running the business that is full of positive aura and energy among his employee, his teachers and the students. He biked with us and he assisted us in understanding the way Panama fuctions! The Teachers, we had two wonderful language teachers full of enthusiasm and a Spanish dance teacher, they thought us the language from scratch in a relaxed and happy medium! We enjoyed the after school-hour activities too, the Spanish dance class, the biking on the waterfront and the happy hour. During those activities, we met many other great students who had come from different countries with the same purpose. They were there to Learn Spanish in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Thank You Team Casco Antiquo Spanish School.

This school was so fun! I had the same teacher all three weeks. They match you to your level and I had a new student with me each week. The one thing I will say is they taught from a book a bit more than I expected but it was good because I hadn't gone over the grammar and structure of the language in a really long time. It was probably a much needed refresher. They also planned fun activities during class like visiting museums to make it interactive. I loved being in the old part of Panama. I think this is what made this school unique to some of the others I researched. The one thing I will say is the old part of Panama is a little pricey so if you're looking for a cheap vacation, this might not be the area of Panama for you. But if you love history, museums and old architecture, I highly recommend.

I wanted an immersive Spanish language experience and that is exactly what I got at the Casco Antiguo Spanish School. I ended my week of lessons wanting to continue studying and learning with them. From my initial outreach, David was responsive and friendly - all questions were answered and the process of the placement test and registration explained. While I had some Spanish language experience there were some gaps in my knowledge and proficiency. The lessons with Ero were fantastic - paced to address my areas of need while adding new content. As a teacher, I appreciated the blend of listening, speaking, reading and writing activities to engage me and for well rounded development. The extra curricular activities were a wonderful bonus - to be able to hang out and also practice the language, in a supportive setting. All the staff were warm and kind and it was nice to meet fellow students. I highly recommend the Casco Antiguo Spanish School for increasing my confidence and skills and being a great introduction to my experiences in Panama. Thanks everyone! From Nilaja

I had a great experience with the school. Small class sizes and patient instructors. They really create an extremely welcoming family like atmosphere.

I spent the first week of an extended mission trip to Panama refreshing on some old high school Spanish skills that I had not used in 20 years. Tricia from the school was very easy to communicate and coordinate with via WhatsApp and email before I arrived in country. They really go out of their way to be a complete resource for people traveling in Panama. The welcome email included useful tips on transportation and local tipping culture.

They provided an online placement test to try and get me in the right class. They started me at a pretty basic level based on my results. My instructor asked if I wanted to move to a higher level by break time of the first day. I didn't change right away, but I let Tricia know after the end of the first day and they easily accommodated moving me to a higher level starting with day 2. They seem to have a basic lesson plan, but my instructor was willing to go a little off plan to answer any of my questions. With only limited time available, I felt like I was able to get a really good refresher. Classes included getting out and walking around the neighborhood to practice.

My wife was pretty much starting from scratch with Spanish and she had a very good experience with her beginner lessons as well. One week is obviously not enough to go from novice to fluent Spanish speaker, but she found it very helpful to practice hearing and understanding basic vocabulary.

They also have evening activities in the area and will help link you up with other local activities. Circumstances did not allow me to participate in the extracurricular activities, but I think it is a great service and I definitely would participate if I did not have other commitments.

I would definitely recommend Casco Antiquo Spanish School to anyone in Panama looking to improve their Spanish skills.

I spent 2 weeks studying at Casco Antiguo Spanish School. I had a wonderful time. The instruction was focused and effective, and everyone at the school was very friendly and helpful. There are evening activities available through the school, and plenty of day or weekend trips you can book locally. The school is also a great base from which to explore all of Casco Antiguo, which is full of history, museums, and churches. The people in the area are very friendly, although it is not recommended to leave the secure area of Casco Antiguo, as the surrounding neighborhood is considered to be dangerous. That being said, there are plenty of Ubers or taxis available if you choose a homestay outside of the area, (also in a safe area) as I did. I paid $2.50 to $3.50 per ride and generally added a $1.00 cash tip. The homestay was also wonderful, and I was able to speak Spanish pretty much exclusively, though a lot of people speak at least a bit of English. I definitely plan to return in the future for a longer stay with my wife, as I have a lot more to see in the area and would also like to visit the interior of the country. I recommend this school as a good place to do intensive study and get to know a new part of the world.

I had the best time learning Spanish at Casco Antiguo Spanish school. The class was structured well, and the teachers, Hector and JJ, were enthusiastic and very helpful. They pushed us to learn but were always happy to answer our questions. I took an intensive course for two weeks with four hours of class each day with 2 other students in the class. I am definitely more confident communicating in Spanish now.

What impressed me most is when they said that they are your host for your trip to Panama, they meant it. David (the owner) and Tricia made sure my burner phone worked since my regular one was not compatible with the local SIM card. When I mentioned that this was my first time using Uber, they made sure the experience went smoothly. They arranged a homestay with the nicest lady, Ana Gloria, who went out of her way to make sure I had an enjoyable stay in Panama. Everyone in the school was friendly and helpful.

I was worried about traveling solo, but I am glad I did. Panamanians are the nicest people. Learning at the Casco Antiguo School was an amazing experience, and I would recommend it to anyone considering an immersion program in Spanish. If I had an opportunity, I would love to return to Casco Antiguo Spanish School and further my Spanish skills.

Casco Spanish School has provided me with an unforgettable experience in Panama!! As a senior in high school, I spent one month taking Spanish lessons and being immersed in the language at Casco school. I loved the different outdoor lessons and fun activities in class, because it was a great way to practice speaking. One of my favorite aspects about school is how they teach conversational Spanish skills in a very effective and fun way. After finishing my 4-week Small Group lessons, I felt much more confident in my Spanish skills to have meaningful conversations with native Spanish speakers! In addition to their outstanding education and instruction, the school always gave me great tips on how to navigate the beautiful city!

This was also my first trip traveling alone, and Casco Spanish School provided me with a wonderful host family and great accommodations. After returning to my home in the United States, I still keep in touch with my host family and am able to practice Spanish with them!

Overall, I’ve had a wonderful time at Casco Spanish School, and will definitely return soon!!

It was so fun to study Spanish with super friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, and excellent teaching staff at Casco Antiguo Spanish School. We loved the interactive classes to study language skills; uniquely designed lessons to meet our needs, combined with opportunities to practice through conversations, activities, and games. Being in the city was a wonderful asset, as there were so many opportunities to use our growing Spanish skills, and the local Panamanians were so supportive! We were encouraged to use our Spanish, even if they spoke English! It was a very positive experience for both me and my teenage daughter. One of the best parts of school were the extra curricular activities offered such as Salsa dancing, volleyball games, bike tours through the city, and happy hour gatherings. I hope to return soon for more Spanish with great people in a great location!

If you’re looking for an excellent immersion school to learn Spanish, Casco Antiguo Spanish School in Panama City is the place! I was in the Small Group Intensive course for 4 weeks at the Intermediate level. There was never more than 3 people in the class, which allowed us to get plenty of attention. I learned so much during that time and really improved my ability to communicate.

Jose Javier was my professor and he was a great teacher! He made sure we understood the material he was covering and welcomed questions and discussion about the topics. The material was challenging but suitable for the level, and there was generally some homework which would help reinforce what we had learned in class. Jose Javier pushed us to work on improving ourselves, but he was also very patient and willing to go over concepts that we just weren’t grasping. The methods of instruction were quite varied as well, including reading and commenting on stories, playing games to learn grammar, and watching interesting videos.

Everyone at the school, the Director (Eddalia), the Academic Director (Ero), Jose Javier, the other professors, were all very friendly and helpful. They provided a very nice environment conducive to learning. The school has afternoon activities on most weekdays. I only did the afternoon bike ride on the Cinta Costera, and it was wonderful! Casco Antiguo (also known as Casco Viejo and San Felipe) is an awesome place. Lots of great restaurants and night life and beautiful architecture throughout this historic district. I stayed in an apartment just a block from the school…very convenient. And studying in Panama City has an added advantage because there aren’t many English speakers around the city, so you have plenty of opportunities to practice your Spanish.

Attending Casco Antiguo Spanish School was an amazing experience. I highly recommend it and would definitely go back again!
