The Partial Transit tour has a duration of 4 to 5 hours. It goes through the Miraflores and Pedro Miguel Locks, underneath the Bridge of the Americas and Centennial Bridge and Gaillard Cut. The Full Transit tour has a duration of 8 to 9 hours. We did the south tour - taxi to Flamenco Marina, then bus to Gamboa, onto the Pacific Queen where we then went through the 3 locks back to the Pacific Ocean. Very informative and an overall good experience. With taxi fare to the causeway and back, the total was $320.00 USD for two people. The lunch on board was tasty... More

We joined the Pacific Queen for its northward transit. We boarded at the Isla Flamenco harbour. From there is was a leisurely float about Panama City, along the entry to the canal, past the growing number of boats awaiting entry into the locks. Our day trip left Isla Flamenco, got in some of the Panama City skyline, through the staging... More

We had a great day- did the full transit and loved the views and seeing the workings of the canal. As with any touristy activity, there will be some greedy folks who just want it all for themselves with no consideration of others or desire to take turns. Just wait them out- at the first lock, everyone will crowd to... More

I made sort of a last minute decision to try a partial transit, and this organization has to be the best. We communicated by email and phone and there was very good responsiveness. I also appreciated that they kept me up to date as to the timing of the transit and any other issues. They did have a problem with... More

Last year I booked and went on a full transit tour by Panama Canal One Day Tours so this year I thought I would try the other one which is the Panama Marine Adventures - Day Tours. And the former is actually advertised as being 50% more expensive. Surprise. Surprise. Same boat. Same guide. Same jokes. But with the added... More

This is a great way to see the Miraflores locks. You will join the locks with a big freighter allowing you to see how the big ships get through the locks. You'll see up close the electric locomotives as they use steel cables to keep the ship from hitting the sides of the chambers. They give you a good breakfast... More

We did a full transit with PMA on the Pacific Queen on July 18 2015. We booked our own tickets directly with PMA and I think we saved a bit of money doing so. We got a blue wrist band and that meant we were almost the last group to board - by that time all seats on top were... More

We went on the south-bound 1/2 day tour that turned into a full day/sunset tour. You leave Flamenco on air-conditioned buses for Gamboa at 10:30, then board the vessel - Pacific Queen, that can take 300-350 passengers. The tour company must follow the directions of the Canal company and in our case we had to idle on the Gatun Lake... More

This is by far the best way to see the canal in action. You can check out things from the Mira Floes Locks Visitor Center but the transit is awesome. Our tour guide, Gus, gave us great information on how it all came to pass, from the beginning to the present operation. He explained the future expansion, and then took... More
