It does not matter if you do the Full or the Partial transit of the Panama...

It does not matter if you do the Full or the Partial transit of the Panama Canal you still would have to check off #5 from the list of 100 Journeys of a Lifetime by National Geographic. Canal and Bay Tours has been offering both transits for over 12 years and we are committed in assisting you to create a memorable experience. Both transits are an all-day affair with breakfast, lunch, and non-alcoholic refreshments included. Your once in a lifetime experience of transiting the Panama Canal begins with check in at the Playita de Amador and boarding one of our three vessels; Tuira II, Fantasia del Mar, or Isla Morada. Aboard our vessel you be on the Pacific Ocean and will pass under the Bridge of the Americas, through the Mira Flores and Pedro Miguel Locks, beneath the Centenario Bridge, through Culebra Cut, and ending in Gatun Lake which was the largest man-made lake in the world. You will also observe the construction of the second set of locks otherwise known as the Expansion of the Panama Canal.

During our Caravan Tour of Panama we were lucky to do a partial transit of the Panama Canal with Canal & Bay Tours on the very historical boat Isla Morada. Our captain Juan Carlos Villareal was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He could do this because to transit the canal he had to cede his boat to a Panama Canal Transit... More

We used Canal & Bay Tours for cruising a partial route of the Panama Canal from Gamboa to Playita (Amador Causeway). I booked directly with Canal & Bay Tours prior to our trip and I received confirmation from the company the next morning. Exactly as promised on our initial confirmation, I received an e-mail the day before the cruise confirming... More

Was excellent from start to finish, worked like clockwork. Booking was efficient, booked through Barefoot, only problem was they use Paypal & I dont like Paypal, but nevertheless worked well. Was a partial transit, pickup from hotel was exactly at the time the day before`s email had said, and check-in was smooth & fast, even though I had forgotten my... More

I booked directly on line with Canal & Bay Tours for the partial transit which cost $150. per adult with a 10% discount for retirees. This company also operates for other tour companies, some at a higher price, so book directly with Canal & Bay Tours. They do pick you up at downtown hotels but this service is operated by... More

We booked this before arriving in Panama and had no issues with transport to and fro. Juan, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable and had a doctorate in political science, with a master's degree in U.S. / Panama relations. We did not know what to expect, but the tours are assigned times to go through the canal, and the amount... More

WARNING: This company is completely unreliable. The booking process by email was cumbersome. It took several reminders and calls to get a confirmation for our group of 9 people from 6 different countries. We were then told that we get a phone call the day before to tell us at what time they would pick us up from the hotel.... More

The only issue that we had was un-coordinate pickup from the apartment we were staying at. If you choose to go the AirB&B route as we did then have the company pick you up at a nearby hotel. This is what we ended up doing. Also the company said that they would provide information about the pick-up time the day... More

This six hour partial excursion of the canal (from Gatun Lake in Gamboa through the Pedro Miguel and Miraflores locks i to the Pacific Ocean) had excellent explanations of the workngs of the canal but there were long lines for food, uncoordinated hotel pickup, and the additional downside that different people paid different amounts for the same trip--very unfair.

the panama canal is one of the greatest engineering works of mankind. unfortunately, the tours to cross the canal are far away from the value of the canal. we did our voyage on board of the boat "tuira ii", which is an old, badly maintained and unaddequate ship. i could see the "pacific queen" that belongs to a competitor and... Read Sox299's review for a nearly exact replica of our experience. However, for us nothing we saw later in the day made up for the misery of the pick-up, lack of food, lack of service and overcrowded conditions on the boat. Pick another company to tour the canal. We spent $300 for what we ended up calling the Bataan Death... More
