My family took to the San Blas Islands. We hired Joe Brown adventures to drive us to the beach, where we took a pre-arranged boat out to the island where we spent the day. Had lunch at a rustik restaurant in one of the islands and then we came back with the same boat. Great trip, great people and great company. One word of caution for the people with physical impediments. The boats used are fishing boats converted into "tourist" ferries. that means they added a canopy to the boat. It can be hard to get in and out of the boats. Otherwise, its an awesome experience and I highly recommend if you are in Panama.

Nobody contacted me before the trip and I thought it might be the way how it works.. I waited in the lobby of my hotel since 5:00, and after 1 hour’s waiting without anyone picking me up and several messages without response, I decided to go back to my room to sleep.

This is about 7 hrs of commute including unnecessarily nauseating herky jerky driving over hundreds of potholes. They also failed to mention that I would get about 70 buckets of water in the face on the boat ride (do NOT ride in the back left seat in the boat.). Operators, you need to make the guests rotate seats. It is not fair that one party has to endure horrible seats the whole trip. Lunch was beautiful fried fish or chicken and plantains. It was overcooked and cold. Lobster is available for $10 more. Sunscreen and rash guards will be needed to avoid burns. Many people added to their skin cancer risk today. We took our own snorkel gear and the ship wreck at the last island is high quality. We paid extra for private transfer. The driver was 10 min late at 5am then did company tasks on our time. Turns out you are bound to about 4-5 other parties so getting there faster doesn’t help. I would suggest NOT paying more for private transfer. We had to take breaks we didn’t want. As with all the tour companies used in Panama, they seem to do whatever serves their needs not ours. The guides were very attentive and highly qualified including speaking the Guna language. That was not the issue. If you are 20 and have never been to an uninhabited island, this might be good. But we’ve found many countries all over the world marketing their islands as ‘paradise’...’the best in the world.’ Seen one, you’ve seen them all and this is just too undesirable of a commute to recommend for a standard experience.

Happy New Year 2020, thank you for yor comments, we will take notes in your recommendations. In efect, you taked a private transfer from Panama City to San Blas and we gave you the best experience possible. Nevertheless, the transfer from the port to Islands in boat was shared. The peak week to visit San Blas Island is from Dec 24th to January 5th aproximaly. We had high demand of tourist and we were 5 cars that we had to get to the port at same time. To do that, we had had sincronise the arrive time for all cars, some cars had delays for reasons that not have worth to mentioned. We tried to reduce your waiting time in the port and discomfort. Regarding of the 70 buckets of water, since December start the trade winds that cause wave and strong wind. There is no spot in the boat that you can't keep you dry. We warned it before the boat left. Finally, we had good time y thank you for come with us

Did this excursion while staying at a resort in Panamá. The only negative we had that day was the travel to San Blas. Many options to pick from.

The ride through the park is rough. Winding roads for about 1 hour. Boat ride was enjoyable, island is beautiful and tranquil. Natural pool was highlight of excursion. Last stop was on a different island for lunch. Fresh catch of the day was served, their was a chicken alternative that was offered. Unfortunately the chicken was spoiled and I suffered food poisoning, which needed medical attention, very unpleasant.
