Iconic structure of Managua opening onto the main square with other important buildings on either side. The Catedral suffered earthquake damage and is fenced off. it's worth seeing, but cannot be entered.

This is a haunting reminder of the earthquake of 1972 that destroyed most of downtown Managua. It is one of the few structures left standing and was built in the 18th century!

Beautiful catheral ruins. You can still see the beautiful decorations from the inside on the closed carheral. The Christmas lights makes it look cheap.

Going to Managua should be a memorable experience, however on the top of the list for tourists is to see these old, outdated and decaying buildings that in 2016 have no meaning or relevance in today's society. We are more interested in real, ancient history that pre dates the modern religious buildings. What happened to recommending the ancient culture of... More

As hobby photographers, we found this location tremendously photographic and provided a lot of opportunities and fun in that regard. This building is near a number of other sites in Managua, so I would... More

A shell surrounded by fencing so nothing could be seen. OK to photograph from the outside. Managua never ceased to disappoint.

This cathedral was damaged from the earthquake in the in the late 70's that destroyed most of Managua at the time. However, it still stands and one can still see how very beautiful it must have been. It is not open to the public unfortunately because it is too dangerous, but if you walk around the building you can sometimes... More
