A trip to the top of Volcan San Salvador and El Boqueron National Park is a must if visiting San Salvador. It is a 30 minute Uber ride from the Zona Rosa area of San Salvador. Make sure you arrange for the driver to wait or return as there is no cell service at the top. It is a short mildly strenuous hike from the parking lot to the overlooks of the crater at the top of the volcano. We spent about 30-40 minutes hiking at the top. Great views of San Salvador from the road up to the top. Plenty of restaurants and cafes with spectacular views along the road to the volcano and at the top.

Great national park with some amazing views when you do the hiking trail up to see the crater. Allow a minimum of half a day here.

It was a relatively easy and brief climb from the parking lot and interpretation centre to the top. Due to light rain and cloud we couldn't see the crater, but the vegetation is lush and beautiful, the air is clean, and it was worth the visit nonetheless.

Last week I visited Volcan San Salvador, for the first time ever. The views from this place, took my breath away, is all what I can say. I spent the weekend with some friends in an extraordinary property at the Volcan, named : "El Olvido" Is a private property that may be rented upon request. I am enclosing some pictures, so you may see for yourself. The house has 5 bedrooms and 4 1/2 bathrooms, the kitchen has been beautifully remodeled. It is a 50 acre Coffee Plantation, with a beautiful home. It is amazing how well kept this property is. The house is 70 years old and it smells so fresh and clean! It is truly amazing. If you are planning to go to San Salvador, this place is a MUST. You will not regret it. It is a very private place, with a truly breathtaking view. It s now, one of my favorite places in the world.

This was such a treat to be able to hike a top the volcano, to then stare down its center. The views from my plane were also breathtaking! An amazing place in a heart of this beautiful city!

This is a long dormant volcano you mostly drive to; the walk to the top is easy up stairs and not difficult. But well worth visiting for the view. And for the fresh fruit grown in the volcano.

The drive up the volcano is amazing in and of itself. As we climbed higher and higher, the previous 90 degree weather faded away and the air was cooler and fresher!
Definitely stop in the museum before the hike up. We learned quite a bit. There's a restroom there as well. The hike up is pretty! Some stairs. At the top, there are several viewing stations of the crater. Simply magnificent!
All in all, we were in and out in less than 3 hours. Definitely a worthwhile attraction!

No at all startling. If you like climbing difficult stairs go. Just not my cup of tea. Maybe good for the young and agile

The commute wasn't too bad . It was kinda close to where my Air BnB was. It cost me USD$7 by UBER. There're well appointed steps that take you right to the rim of the long dormant Volcano. The volcano is now covered with trees, bushes and grass. I was underwhelmed by it. On the way down from the peak there are a few cafès & I pulled in to one of them for some food.
