Quick visit from outside
Jun 2021
Wasn't open to entry but still worth visiting to see it from the outside and learn a little bit about the history associated with it.

Great Design with Historical Significance

My guide took me to the city center, and to where one of the crazy story happened. From this beautiful building were thrown grenades onto the crowd below from the balconies. It was crazy times back in early 80s, and the history is quite something.

Nice building to take your proverbial photos but not much else imo. I didn’t bother to go in but sore that folks who are interested in this stuff will have a good time. Not a must see but as there is not much else in SS you might as well. All the churches and central market are located in this area.

Constructed between 1906-1911, the current building replaced the old one constructed in 1870 but destroyed by fire in 1889. This building was declared a national historic landmark in 1974.

I have to be honest, this place never interested me in the past, but i had to take my girlfriend, because she wanted to know more about the history of my country, and because of her, i found out this nice place full of history, it's such a beautiful building that it deserves a visit once in a lifetime of every citizen of this country. I hope they will restore it to it's full someday!

Interesting and Quick Stop
Sep 2019
The partially restored National Palace makes for a reasonably fast and informative tour. It's a neat old Colonial building with interesting architectural details and some wonderful trees in the courtyard!

Very imposing and inviting
May 2019 • Couples
After visiting the church, we saw this by the side of the church on the plaza itself. Very imposing building like any other huge Spanish type Government buildings in Lima. We went inside and some work was going on, The place was quite empty. But it has an impressive garden. Few artefacts, some old paper coverage enlarged enough describing the history of that palace were displayed in some of the rooms in the first floor. But not very impressive inside. we paid a 3$ entry fee for this.

Haunting and beautiful

Beautiful historic building—a bit eery given how empty it is. You can definitely sense the importance of the building.
