Worth the see. The statue is huge and impressive together with a surrounding area presenting all the war machines, guns, tanks and planes. It is extremely well taken care of full of free information for all the military noobs. Highly recommended!

Rodina Mat ( The Motherland Monument ) is an absolutely stunning and amazing monumental statue in Kiev that you have to visit if your planning a trip to this most eclectic of city's.
The statue is actually part of the National Museum Of The Historic Of Ukraine In The Second World War.
Everything about this statue is big, standing 203 high ,the sword alone is 52 feet long while the shield is 43 feet by 26 feet in length and width ,it just so impressive and most certainly the number one landmark of the city .
My twin brother Stephen and I visited this monument on a freezing cold Sunday afternoon, we couldn't help but be impressed, it's such an iconic structure and makes for some great photographic opportunities as does this whole area dedicated to Ukraine's military past .
A wonderful statue and monument and most definitely well worth checking out if your planning a trip to Kiev.

First time in Kiev and it was my dream to visit this epic place. I can say it's truly worth visiting! The Motherland monument is much more impressive than you see on the internet pics! And also the museum inside is open and I was exploring it almost on my own, as there were not many people at that time. I definitely recommend to those who are interested in Second World War topic.

Being at the bottom of the Rodina Mat, one simply feels overpowered by its presence. Just like the Statue of Liberty, it's one of those pieces that makes one admire human's ability for engineering and architecture. The park is well kept and also is a good example of Soviet monumentalism. There's also a WWII museum and an impressive and huge sculpture in iron and stone reflecting the people's effort in the war.

The MotherLand monument is great! It has a gorgeous view. It's on top of a hill so the view is great. You will have the Museum in there as well. It has a beautiful green area. While you walk in there, you will see trucks, tanks from the war. Would recommend it.
You can easily access it by a long walking from city centre or by bus/uber.

Standing proudly over the Kiev skyline is the 340-foot tall, stainless steel Soviet Mother Motherland statue.
Originally intended to be even taller, the sword of the statue was cut because it was higher than the cross of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra - renowned Orthodox Christian Monastery. She ranks 18th on the list of the world’s tallest statues and for example a bit of comparison, The Statue of Liberty ranks about 42nd.

Another must visit if you are in Kyiv. The Motherland Monument towers over the city and really is a symbol of independence / resistance that many Ukrainians are proud of.

The park around the monument of free of charge to walk around and is very well kept. There are also a number of tanks on display , and for a small fee you can pay to visit the WWII museum next to the park. I am told the museum is very interesting but was closed during our visit due to the air raid siren going off.

Though she was put in place during Soviet occupation and continues to carry the Soviet amor highlighting the sickle and hammer, Katya overlooks Kyiv with strength and power. Frankly, she is pretty badass and a must visit for anyone who goes to Kyiv. But I would recommend you take time to understand the history and where Ukraine is now as a country to fully grasp her presence.
