Built by Kiev monks back in 1051, this striking building is the most holy place in the Ukraine. The caves on the property serve as burial grounds for monks.

If you want go in Kiev you should visit here too. But if you go earlier than 14.00 you can visit caves with interpreter. Bad luck I went there after 14.00 and I could not visit caves. But so nice so big place

I have seen thousands of otrthodox churches before, these here ste really nice, but rather too flamboyant for my taste. Unless you are very religious and from the Ortodox church, you will find the caves uninteresting. The lack of explanation in english is painful. Entrance fees...More

We were bowled over by the number of ecclesiastical buildings; both above and below ground at this location! There is a bell tower which is well worth the climb for the interesting views of the city. The caves were so unique and the fact that...More

The caves were a real highlight. When the lady gives you a candle when you go in, don't put it on the stand as you will need it to find your way!

Not only historically very interesting but still a very much alive part of Ukraine society as you will notice when strolling around.

This place is spectacular. The decoration inside the monasteries is ostentatious and elaborate in the best traditions of the Orthodox Church. I'm not particularly religious but enjoy going around churches and this place is on the 'must see' sights of Kiev. It's still a working...More
