This is a very beautiful and very popular church located right across from the Universityet Metro Station and Taras Shevchenko University. It's usually lit up very prettily at night as well. Word to the wise - they take Orthodox protocol very seriously here, so men: no hats, and women: head covered.

I almost always visit this cathedral when I am in Kyiv. In a city filled with many beautiful churches, this is a stand-out. It is easy to reach, very close to the University Metro Station. There are many churches in Kyiv that are older and that are worth seeing for their ancient nature. Volodymyr is a 19th century church building... More

So many amazing places in Kiev. Lots of Cathedrals which you can never get bored with. All of which are unique and worth the time to visit. St. Volodymyrs Cathedral is no different and a great place to visit.

An absolutely beautiful church. More for believers than tourists though, and that's something to have in mind and to respect.

I got the sense that this cathedral was more active as a cathedral than an attraction - there was definitely a more solemn atmosphere but welcoming all the same - photography is allowed with a ticket. The cathedral was very active with candles being bought and lit at different shrines within the cathedral and it felt more meaningful than the... More

This is one of my favorite while in Kiev. Visited on Pentecost mass with a lot of people attending. Quite moving. If you want a picture, look for the afternoon sun, which provides a beautiful light for this magnificent couch building.

St Volodymyr is close to University metro station. The inside is very impressive with countless pictures and so much gold. Compared to other churches, it felt like there were the people praying here.

Quite impressive frescoes and icons attract numbers of people and not only loyal preachers. It is worth a short visit, preferably as a part of a bigger walking tour.
