Very nice museum, went there only once, Aug 2015, seen many different kinds of arts including oil paintings, as well as sculptures by Rodan. So fine to see beautiful arts there!

This is a superb gallery. My personal favourite is the Avant Garde painting between about 1910 and 1930 (before Stalin started repressing the creative arts). There are cubist works made at the same time as Picasso by painters who were clearly his peers. It makes you wonder how much is missing from traditional Western art history teaching??

This place starts with icons and ends with contemporary art about police torture. I really enjoyed it. Lots of explanations in English.

Room after room of spectacular cavnvases from historical, allegorical, whimsical, depicting the old Ukraine and southern Russia through to intimate portaiture of the real people. Astonished, although perhaps should not be, to see the parallels with Western European art with inspiration, draughtsmanship and technique to match. This is a must see for anyone seeking what went before.A fine record of... More

This museum is not anywhere near as large as other national art museums--I had initially carved out a good 3-hour block to see the museum, but you'll need substantially less (more like an hour). The admission is less than a dollar and the art is top-notch: few other nations did avant-garde as well as the Ukrainians, and their gallery spaces... More

I was surprised at the Mix of Modern, Contemporary and art from 16th, 17th, and 18th century. The modern work was fair, and creativity level reflects issues in the current day Ukraine. I was a little impressed by the Ukrainian Period after WW 2. Appearently there were some good artists not painting for the state. The Impressionist style, cubism, and... More

Yes, darlings, here is a snippet of information for which you will thank me for the rest of your life. In amongst the utter dross of the Museum of Ukrainian Art is an artist whom, basically, knocks all the others into a small cocked hat. Alexander Bogomazov. An utter genius, unknown virtually outside his homeland and now the subject of... More

There are some collections in this museum that are truly significant, and beautiful, and make the experience well worth the visit. And let's face it, the admission price of about two USD ($2) means you're really getting in for free...the historic building could itself use some much needed TLC, but with recent and current events that's going to be a...
