Beautiful, simple with lovely helpful people. The art has a very contextual appeal, and most of the artists will not be known to Western travelers, however this makes it into a much more exciting adventure.

Fantastic little museum worth spending a couple of hours in. We were short on time and went 45 minutes before closing, but then were kicked out by staff ten minutes before closing time - still don't know why! So maybe keep that in mind and...More

By American and most European countries standards this is a small national art museum. Small but nice, you need about two hours to see all the exhibits, which are on two floors. The cost to enter, like most state run thing is minimal. It's about...More

It's a terrific, compact history of 500 years or so of Ukrainian art, starting with some great altar pieces in the Byzantine style, some Mannerist religious sculptures in wood, classic portraits of Ukrainian notables (including the awful Bogdan Khmelnytsky - national hero responsible for seeing...More

I really enjoyed my visit to the museum. It was a perfect afternoon visit on a rainy day. It costs 40 UAH (about $1.50 USD at this time) and all of the exhibits and art have the English translations which is very helpful. I spent...More

What a treat. We arrived late afternoon so didn’t have time to see the contemporary collections on exhibit. But the main collection has some astonishing works from Ivan Shishkin from Russia.
