It was cold, freezing cold when we visited but well worth making the effort!!

The easiest way to get here is to use an Uber taxi, very, very cheap and quick. Public transport here wouldn't be very easy!

There's so much to see here and several aeroplanes, helicopters that you can go inside and sit in the cockpits of etc adds to the fun!!

Everything on display has a description in both Ukrainian and English which is also very informative.

Sadly the cafe wasn't open when we visited but then it was the middle of the winter so there was nowhere to get any food or hot drinks.

I'm glad we made the effort in the bad weather to visit and I'd highly recommend this to everyone.

Several days I was in State Aviation Museum with my friends. It was a nice sunny weekend so it was difficult to park the car close to the entrance. The staff was nice, as far as I understood, because I didn’t speak Ukrainian, lol. It was nice that we could come inside the aircraft, however, it’s not allowed to touch anything and it upset me. I’m glad I didn’t refuse my friend and we took a tour together to the shooting range the day before! We were also driving the BTR and we could touch everything inside and take plenty of photos! It was a military tour from Kyiv military tours agency and it was much more interesting than here.

I have been lucky enough to visit this beautiful museum with a friend, an aeronautical engineering professor from Kiev. The museum is almost completely outdoor, in a large esplanade next to the Boryspil airport. Most of the planes belong to the former Soviet Union and in particular to the Cold War. Unfortunately, being outdoors, some of them are in quite poor condition. It's possible to see the gigantic Mil helicopters, fighters, bombers, reconnaissance aircraft, including some icons such as the Tupolev 95 and 22, the Beriev seaplanes and some Antonov, designed and produced in Kiev.

This is a fabulous collection of Soviet aircraft both civil and military arranged in an open park. Well worth a visit.
Whether it was because of Covid 19 or time of year I was somewhat disappointed that it was not possible to enter all of the aircraft in particular the IL86. That said there was enough to see to keep me there most of the day.

Took an Uber (GBP 5 from Independence Square) to this amazing museum.

Large open area museum filled with old Soviet aircraft, vehicles and missiles. Many you could go onboard.
Small takeaway cafe (great hot chocolate) and VERY well stocked gift shop.
It was very cold on the day we went so do dress warm

Best aviation museum I have visited and a MUST when in Kyiv

Continuing to visit various museums and attractions, my husband and I visited the State Aviation Museum. Everything was very exciting. You yourself can even climb inside the aircraft and sit at its helm, feeling like a real pilot. However, it was even more fun to shoot from real weapons, which we managed to do at the Stay in Kiev travel agency. In addition, there even instructors speak good English where you can find out more interesting places to visit in Kiev

Great collection of aircraft and easy to spend a few hours here. Most aircraft are locked but you can enter a few. The ticket price is very affordable. We got out there by Bolt and a regular taxi back, few minutes looking for a taxi back.

$4 gets you into this place. An amazing array of Soviet Era aircraft. The place is a little run down but it is worth a visit. There is a cafe, rest rooms and a gift shop. Try to visit when the weather is decent and wear comfortable clothes.

Well it was a bit rainy, so there were very few people, but the planes are still the same ! Excellent collection and some great photo opportunities. Would have preferred more access inside ... we only got to go inside 2-3 planes.

Amazed at the size of the helicopters and the bombers.

A saturday morning, nice weather, what to do today in Kyiv. As an aviation enthusiast the decision was quickly made. Ordered a taxi and off we went. It is open air, so choose a day without rain :-) . Wonderful to see these old soviet era planes and helicopters from close by. My wife said, you are as happy as a child in a play garden :-) and she was right !!
