Avala Tower is the telecommunications tower located in Avala Mountain, in the surroundings of Belgrade, the main city in Serbia. It is a very nice place, where you can go up and see very beautiful views of the land and Belgrade, so it is probably the best lookout in the region. Also, in the top of the tower, there is a bar, where you can drink or eat something. Very nice place to drink a glass of wine and enjoy with views.

It is not just historic and symbolic lace but as well good trip to the nature and for small excersize. PLace is omnumental and worth visiting. Great sculptor Ivan Mestrovic made it and it has all the usual Mestrovic lightmotives, cariatides, masonic simobolism, monumental and most important it is great piece of art

There is no real shuttle bus to the tower from the city. You can take the bus from the centre and get off in Avala and then we walked the path to the station (about a 20 minute walk up hill)

You can take a taxi from the city to the station, but good luck getting one back as no taxi's wait at this location and all the apps don't pick up from there.

Tickets were fairly cheap and not a lot to do in the area.

Once at the top, some nice views and spent about 15 minutes at the top.

Its interesting that it was blown up by Nato in 1999 and this is the rebuilt one.

I rode motorbike to this place. When riding to to top of the mountan there are lot of trees and very good narrow road. Felt like riding throug a thick jungle. View of surrounding area is fantastic. There two difference when I compare Eifel tower or Toronto tower, both these situated in the city. Avala tower your can see grreny towns and it felt more natural.
The other main thing surprised me was that telescopes were there. I went twice round without looking thse. Because I am used to put some coins in all other places so I did not had any coins so I just ignored it. But later I found it was for free. :-)

Absolutely striking if you like this kind of architecture.you will need a car to come here. 20 mn drive from Belgrade
No need to pay to take the lift and go to the view platform, the building itself deserve the visit

Avala Tower was a great day trip. My husband and I took the bus to Beli Potok and climbed up to the Tower area. (Plenty of great trails on the mountain.) In the area around the tower, there are a few shops and cafes with nice views. There are also playgrounds for children, as well as picnic/BBQ spots. The ticket to get to the top of the tower is 300 dinars. The view from the top lets you see all of Belgrade. I recommend this place for a fun afternoon out of the city.

Loved the panoramic view of Belgrade seeing it in a beautiful peaceful place. The coffee shop also makes lovely coffee quick and easy service. The playground area for kids is also great. The little one sure had a great time.

Remake of original tower destroyed in nato bombing 1999.
A nice place for those who are not afraid of height and know how to enjoy the view. From the top, when the day is clear the view is amasing.
The nearby monument of Unknown Soldier also deserves to be visited.
Nature is beautiful, so I recommend to bring some blanket and sandwiches and enjoy with family or friends.

We visited by car one week day in summer and there weren't many other visitors around. I believe you can also come here by organized tour on weekends and it appeared as if there is a regular bus service also.

The tower visit itself is a little strange - first you go to the café and have your included coffee/soft drink and sample the views from behind the double-glazed glass, and then if you insist you can go up to the next level to the viewing tower to see the same views from the open air. I would have expected it to be the other way around? But maybe most people don't insist on doing both since the view is the same just a tiny bit higher?

There is a little information about the tower and the bombing that destroyed it (the original) on the ground level where you buy the tickets, but nothing much to read at the top. There are some poster holders that were perhaps designed to hold posters pointing out the city landmarks that you are viewing from so high up, but they were empty.

Also on the mountain you can visit the war memorial with the tomb of the unknown soldier, which I actually really preferred to the tower, as well as the old hotel where you can enjoy a drink on the terrace. There are lovely walks through the woods all over the mountain.

Whilst I certainly enjoyed our visit to Avala Tower, I wouldn't make a special effort to get there if you only have a few days in Belgrade.

Very nice viewpoint tower of the city with museum underneath. The nature around it is so beautiful and clean. Around the tower you will find many nice thins, like outdoor gym, basketball court, playground for the children and many more.
