We went there for the Saint Michaels day service. Though we did not really understand everything, we found our visit most enlightening.

St. Michael's Cathedral has an amazing tower of blue and gold that you can see most clearly from the river. The interior has lovely iconograpy of a relatively modern variety. The most striking object is a "plastic"/plexiglass life-sized depiction of Jesus on the cross with...More

Whilst walking the streets of Belgrade, the ornate spire of this church, caught our eye so we had to go have a look. Built in the early 1800’s, this ornate structure was dedicated to the Archangel Michael, the interior has some nice mosaics to see,...More

What a neat place! Small and dark, but very beautiful. Many older women covered their hair inside. Very interesting!

Very special - even though our church politics are the worst and need to be condemned. Extremely interesting Orthodox cathedral. Outside is remarkable with its bell tower, but from inside it is even more interesting with its painted ceiling. Very interesting icons and mosaics with...More

Though newer than many other churches, St. Michael's is impressive with all of its finery. I saw it just before it hosted a Prince's wedding, so it was truly in perfect condition.

Located near the Belgrade Fortress so is easily accessible this cathedral was completed in 1840 with the interior richly decorated in what our guide told us is Serbian neo-classicism. Worth a look.
